Organizing Ideas For Suction Cup Soap Dish...

Hi everyone! I was roaming the grocery store aisles while shopping and spotted this soap dish in the cleaning section. I knew exactly where it was going to go…and it didn't involve soap!

Here's the soap dish…

I'm sure you can find something like this in your area. It's used to hold a bar of soap, suctioned to your shower or sink. The holes in the plastic allows the water to drip through so the soap doesn't get goopy.

 Two suction cups to attached to metal, glass and some plastics.

Tool Time Tuesday...Sandpaper Gingerbread Ornaments

Hi everyone! Welcome to another Tool Time Tuesday. This time we are in the paint section of the hardware store...for sandpaper!!

I start thinking about Christmas and decorating the house for the holidays in the summer. I have lots of projects, decorations and fun things I make for the Christmas, so I need to start early. I have a theme tree with gingerbread men that I haven't used in a few years, because I need more things to decorate it. I would rather make a lot of the items than buy them, so that's where today's tutorial comes in.

I wanted a fast and easy way to make "gingerbread" and this was it...no recipe or baking required! Lol

Tool Time Tuesday...Yard Stick Organizing Rack

Hi everyone! I have mentioned in the past that our house and the things in it are ever changing. Furniture moves in and furniture moves out. Between thrift store finds, saving furniture for our daughters when they move into their own apartments and "hand me downs" from my sister, our house is always "making room" for something.

Well, the littlest of ideas come from the need to squeeze in one more piece of furniture. My sister gave my daughter Courtney a small love seat couch for an apartment she might have in the future. Never wanting to giving up free furniture, I squeezed it into my sewing room for now. I love it ( Courtney might not get it), but things had to change in my sewing room to get it in.

One change was the wall where I had stored a big frame of all my quilt rulers. Move one thing here, move another thing there etc. It's definitely a domino effect of change.

Quick easy project that you can use for anything really, not just quilt rulers. Come on in to see!

Tool Time Tuesday...Wine Cork Backsplash

Hi...and welcome to another Tool Time Tuesday. Today's project is not only a "tool" project, but a recycling one too! I am going to use old wine corks to make a backsplash in a wine cabinet that we have. Funny thing is...we don't drink wine!! My husband and I just can't seem to acquire a taste for it. We do have lots of family functions and holidays at our house, so the wine bar is perfect for family and friends.

Here's a sneak peek at the backsplash...

Here's the "before" wine bar. It's a bottom buffet from my niece and an old hutch top my sister found at a yard sale. Black paint marries the 2 together.

Tool Time Tuesday...Swing Set Quilt Ladder

Hi everyone! Some Tool Time ideas are from stores and others are recycled items. Today's project is recycled, but it's also a piece of the past.

Using an old ladder to display quilts isn't anything new, but it's new to me and this ladder is extra special too!!

It's from the swing set our daughters played on since they were little.

Today's Tool Time idea is to use things you already have or that are sentimental to display things around your home.

Ladders are great for towels in the bathroom, magazines in the living room, shoes, plants, books etc. Just search for "ladder display ideas" on-line under images or on Pinterest!

Tool Time Tuesday...Drying Rack for Sewing

Today's Tool Time is about using a laundry drying rack for sewing and quilting! We have a few folding drying racks in our house, because most of my husband's pant and shirts have to be lined dried.

I use the large racks for clothing, but wanted to share an idea for the smaller racks on the table or hanging on the door to organize fabric storage when sewing a project.

Tool Time Tuesday...Hot Dog Bobbin Rack

I know...Hot Dog???

I found this hot dog rack for cooking on the barbecue grill. It holds a number of dogs in one place for ease of cooking. The hot dogs won't fall through the grate, easy to turn and easy to lift the whole rack off the grill at once.

I found this one in Benny's, but I'm sure you can find it in the summer/outdoor sections of most stores. It's made from aluminum and you get 2 in a package for 99 cents, but mine was on sale for 75 cents!!

Tool Time Tuesday...Ribbon Iron

Hi everyone! Sometimes the "tools" for Tool Time come from the craziest places. Today's tool is one of my hair gadgets. I saw this in a magazine a long time ago and wanted to share the idea with you.

My daughters have the super duper expensive hair straighteners, because they flatten their hair on a regular basis. I bought a cheap one a few years ago when I straightened my hair every now and then.  I just let it flip up naturally now...less work for me!!

Tool Time Tuesday...Mud Pan Ideas

Happy Tuesday everyone. Today's Tool Time is from the paint section or the sheet rock section of your local hardware store.

You know I love to scour the stores for unusual things to use for something else and this little red beauty caught my eye...

It's a Mud Pan. It's used for mud or spackle when taping the seams or screw holes of dry wall.

They cost $3.00 and up depending on the size and what it's made from. They do have pretty stainless steal ones too.

Tool Time Tuesday...Ice Cube Tray Organizer

Welcome to another Tool Time Tuesday!! Today's "thinking outside the box" idea is an ice cube tray organizing tip.

This ice cube tray makes those long skinny cubes that fit in water and drink bottles.

I found this one in a discount store for $2.49. Ice cubes? Maybe not for me, but great for organizing so many things.

Hi everyone!! Sorry Tool Time is a day late. We've been on vacation this week. Not traveling anywhere, just catching up and spending time with the hubby and the girls!

There will be lots of 4th of July celebrations tomorrow and picnics happening all summer long, so I thought I would share a quick tip to keep your outdoor tablecloths where they needs to be...on the table!!

Tool Time Tuesday...Tier Tray Organizer

Hi everyone...welcome to another Tuesday of fun ideas! This is one of those Tool Times where I have to say...ssshhhh, don't tell the hardware store people that we found this in their store for cheap cheap!! If they find out that women were crafting and organizing from the hardware store, they will jack the prices up.

Last week I stopped by our local Home Depot for gift certificates for my father and father-in-law for Father's Day. You know me, I just can't go in and buy the certificates and leave. I absolutely have to shop around.

This is what I found...and it's already set up in my sewing room chock full of sewing supplies.

This how one of the trays looks. You will never guess how much!!

Ok, I'll tell you...$3.79 each.

$3.79. Unbelievable, right?

This is our little secret. If you tell them we're using it for crafting, scrap booking, beading, sewing etc, we'll be paying 15.00 each in no time.

Tool Time Tuesday...Cheater Bolster Pillow

Hi everyone! Most of you know me by now that I try to use what I have first before I go out and buy something. Well, this decorative bolster pillow idea is case in point.

Courtney brought home 2 chairs from her dorm room that we bought at Ikea. I had to squeeze them into the house somewhere. There is a nook in her room where they fit perfectly.

They needed a pop of color...so pillows to the rescue!

Tool Time Tuesday...Hot Glue Gun Tips

Hi everyone!! Our house is ever changing and ever evolving. I move things around, organize and try to fit in new things all the time...big or small. Our 2 daughters are home from college and some of you may know what that is like...a big mess.

Courtney graduated, so all the things she brought home are staying. She is home for a while to finish an internship. One thing she brought home is the Ikea table that I talked about last year. You can click HERE to see that post. It's a great sewing, crafting table.

I couldn't just store it in the basement...here it is squeaked into a little spot in my sewing room.

Tool Time Tuesday...Graduation Tassel Ornament

Hi everyone!! In honor of all graduates this month and next month, I wanted to share an idea I saw on Pinterest. I wish I could share a link to the original post, but the pin was of just the picture. There is another website with the same photo as Pinterest, but they only refer to Pinterest as the source. If anyone knows the original website where this came from let me know...I would love to give them credit.

I just love this idea so much, I am going to dig through the girls' souvenir boxes and pullout their high school tassels too.

It will be so nice to have these hanging on the Christmas tree instead of having the tassels packed away in a box.

These were Courtney's tassels from Saturday...one for graduating and the white for honors.

Tool Time Tuesday...Hardware Storage Drawer

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by another Tool Time. This past weekend was super crazy. All day Saturday, I cleaned out the girls' closets and part of the basement making room for all their "stuff" that's coming home. We went to their university Sunday to go out for Mother's Day and then packed up their rooms.

When I was cleaning out their closets at home, I found these hardware storage drawers I bought for them when they were little.

You know children (and sometimes mommies) keep little treasures and memories. This drawer system works great for all those special things!!!
