A few months ago, I shared a post about on how to make your own framed chalkboard with chalkboard fabric. You can click HERE if you missed that post. Well, I had some fabric left over and have a few projects in the works to share with you over the next few weeks.

First project today is Chalkboard Napkin Rings!

Framed Chalkboard Fabric...

Hi everyone! You know I love thrift store finds and frames are one of the best buys. I found 2 large frames for $3.50 each and I knew they would be great for the chalkboard signs I wanted to make. The large sized frames are perfect to fill up wall space, so I wanted to use them for my Christmas party.

Here are the 2 frames and you won't believe how easy they were to make…with FABRIC!!!

Yes, chalkboard fabric.

Fabric Hoops Wall Decor...

Hi everyone! Today, I want to share a project with you that I saw on Pinterest. It was from the site Purl Bee. It uses wooden embroidery hoops for wall decor. When I first saw the idea, I already had some older hoops that I had been collecting and some from my mom, but the hunt was on. Every time I saw hoops in yard sales, thrift store or consignment shops I bought them!! They were inexpensive too...50 cents to $3.00 and some were $5.00 for a bag of them.

Here's the wall in my sewing room with all the hoops made with fabric I already had!!

You can make these too. They are very easy and fast to make up. Let me show you the quick steps...

Tool Time Tuesday...Make Your Own Design Wall

Happy Tuesday everyone! I had a thought to change the design wall in my sewing room to a more useful space. I wanted it to be large to use up the whole wall. I only have one section of wall space that's not covered with furniture, so I want to utilize the entire section.

I wanted the design wall to look like a nine patch quilt block...but JUMBO!!

Here's what I made...it just on the floor for now. I haven't hung it on the wall yet, because I think my daughter Kelsie wants to take it!!

Each square is 2 feet by 2 feet, so the final size is 6 feet by 6 feet!!

Looking at this picture now, I want to move that black chalkboard square down one.

Let's see how you can make a design wall of your own. It doesn't have to be the same size. You can scale it down it fit your space.

Tool Time Tuesday...Chalkboard Labels

Happy Tuesday everyone! I was roaming the aisles again ( I wish that could be a full time job) and found a great product...Chalkboard Contact Paper!

Yes, chalkboard...actual wipe away and rewrite chalkboard paper. It's a dream come true for a person, like me, who likes to change things all the time. No need to make a new label...just erase it!

Here's where I used it first. My work bench. Old table with a mismatched hutch on top. It's a great work place. Tools are right there and the table is the workbench

I LOVE tools. I keep them in these buckets from Tractor Supply Store. These pails are cute and cheap...I think $3.50 each

but they are much cuter with chalkboard labels!

The only problem is my third grade hand writing. Lol

I also used the labels under my table for my fabric filing.

I have a big file cabinet for quilting fabric, but these boxes are the over flow that didn't fit.

Cheap cardboard file boxes, turned inside out to show the natural cardboard look so they all match and then use file folders to hang your fabric on.

How to make your own Chalkboard Labels...

You will need a roll of chalkboard contact paper and a template. Use a plastic stencil, print a design from the Internet or use the large paper punches from the scrapbooking section.

The paper was about $5.00 for the roll at Michael's Craft Store. 

 Draw on the back of the paper.

and then cut it out.

Just peel off the backing paper.

Ok, this look was a NO go for me. It looks like the pail is shouting at me!!

I used the rectangle design instead.

Ahh, much better.

Just had to retrace the shapes

Much better...no shouting pails.

Girlie tool box...nothing better!

The possibilities with the chalkboard contact paper are endless...

• canning jars for gifts
• canisters in the kitchen
• recycle tomato sauce jars for storage
• boxes
• drawer fronts
• kid's toy baskets
• put on the refrigerator for notes to the family
• frame a piece of it for notes
• cover the kids playroom wall with it just for fun

I think you can find larger rolls of this on Amazon. Just have fun with it!

Tool Time Tuesday...Revamped Child's Chalkboard

Happy Tool Time everyone. You all know that Tool Time can be just about anything...things from hardware store turned into something fun and useful, recycled things from, well, the trash really, or Tool Time can be things around the house ready to go to Goodwill and then it gets a second life with a little help.

Here is a chalkboard that is going into my sewing room re-do and I wanted to share it with you.

An old frame with an opening of 18x24 inches and my daughters' chalkboard from when they were little.

The chalkboard is one of those things that you just keep around, because of all the memories of the 2 of them playing school with it!!

Fortunately for me, the wood frame of the chalkboard fit into the inside lip of the frame.

(see how old the frame is...they probably spilt something on that when they were little)

Looks cute, but you know me and my black paint...nothing escapes me!

2 quick coats on each...didn't prime it or anything. Just went for it.

Here is the frame of the chalkboard...adds dimension to the frame.

Now to connect them. The frame of the chalkboard is thick, so it sticks up above the edge of the back of the frame. I couldn't tack it in like a normal picture.

Tool Time to the rescue...metal strapping. It bends to the shape of the frames to secure them together. The holes are perfect for screws.

You know I buy things at the hardware store just because I know there will be another purpose for them. Well, this is one of those items...

What is it? Who knows...it's some kind of metal strapping.

Just go into the hardware store with confidence, like you know what you're talking about and say...

"I can't find that coiled metal strapping that I've been looking for...do you know where that is?

Sounds like you know your stuff, but you just can't find it. Lol !!

Here's the finished frame...perfect for a kitchen or office. The frame gives it more substance.

Next project in the works...peg board!!
