Yup, knobs. The knobs from cabinet doors!!
Here are my Regular and Decaf signs I use at every party to label my coffee pots. I use different holders for different holidays or functions. Click HERE and HERE for a ton of other place card holder ideas that I made from ordinary items.
I just thought of this idea yesterday when I was going through a box of old knobs.
Upside down knobs for place card holders!!!
We had our kitchen remodeled and we have all new knobs.
They are the jewelry of the kitchen...like new earrings!! I had one extra knob that made it into the "spare" knob box.
Here are some old knobs that I've change on different pieces of furniture over the years and kept for some reason. Now I'm glad I did.
The top of the knob will be the bottom of the place card holder, so try not to use one that is really round.
The shape of the knob's stem will show more with this project.
You will need heavy gauge wire and needle nose pliers.
Take the pliers and pinch the end of the wire and wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers 2-3 times forming loops.
Here is a close up.
Cut the wire to the desired height. Not too tall though, because it will be top heavy.
Mine are about 3 inches long.
I added a dab of hot glue in the screw hole before I added the wire. You can use other types of glue too...hot glue just dries in seconds.
If the spot where the screw would normally go in isn't so pretty, you can thread some beads onto the wire to match the occasion or party. Red, white and blue for the July 4th!!
Here are a few that I made yesterday!
BUFFET FOOD LABELS...
COFFEE POT LABELS...
NUMBERED TABLE SIGNS...
PLACE SETTING SIGN...
PICTURE HOLDER TOO...
They can also hold notes, reminders, love notes or little calendars. There are so many things you can do with these.
If you need a large number of these for a party, some stores sell them in 10-12 count packages...cheaper in bulk.
They also sell knobs in discount store like Ocean State Job Lot, Dollar Tree etc.
Search your house, because I know you must have some extra knobs some where. If you don't like the color of them, you can paint them!!
Happy Tool Time,
~Karen~
