Upcoming Things on Sew Many Ways...

My mind has been ticking lately and that can be dangerous!! I have some posts that I've wanted to do, but wanted to ask a few questions first...just to get your opinion!

Topic 1...Yard Sale Saturday on S.M.W.

I've been cleaning out some things in my sewing room and around the house that I haven't used in a while or no longer need. I would rather sell these things on my blog, because I "know" most of you. (you know what I mean by "know most of you"...through blogging Lol)

Having a yard sale at my own home might bring a few people who would want what I'm selling, but posting a few things each Saturday would bring the things to people who would really want it...a broader audience.

The bonus for you would be to go to a yard sale in your pajamas!!

I've seen other people sell things on their blogs and wonder how it works out for them.

Here are my questions and thoughts on it.
  • do you think this would be a good feature on my blog?
  • would you buy things in this way?
  • I would require Paypal for payment
  • I would ship on Wednesday and Friday
  • I would only charge you the actual shipping charge...no extra
  • the item would have a set price...no bidding
  • first come, first serve basis through the comments section.
  • you must have an email in the comment for contact reasons
  • I would post the items at 10:00 am eastern standard time in the US on Saturdays. That would make it fair for most time zones. (except maybe Hawaii and Australia...sorry Hawaii and Australia)
Would do you think?

I was going to talk about other topics, but I'll do that on another post. Too much info on one post is an overload! Lol

Thanks for you opinion,
~Karen~

  6. Why not link up with Bonnie at Quiltville? She already does this one Saturday a month with several bloggers linking up to hers to show theirs. You would likely get more views this way anyway.

  13. I've seen these type sales be VERY successful! Bonnie Hunter had one on her blog a few weeks ago, and everything was sold in minutes! You have tons of followers, too, so you'll have no problem. She had a linky for others to sell from their own blogs, and I saw a LOT of stuff sold very quickly for others, as well. It's a win-win!

  14. Sounds great but are International followers included in this?

  15. I was thinking the same thing myself, always have things I won't use anymore and so many crafters out there, who might want them. Either that or a swap with things I have for things I need.

  16. Hi! I think it is a great idea! Are you talking a linky party?
I have a number of books I'd like to sell for a nominal price, but don't seem to be moving. I'd appreciate more exposure, maybe they would sell!
    Take care, Leslie

  20. I think it's a wonderful idea. You know already that we like to craft, which is why we follow your awesome blog. What better way to feel good about selling something than to sell it to your followers? :) I'm in!

  33. I think your online yard sale sounds like fun too. I check your blog every day just to see what you are up to, LOL.

  34. This is a great idea! Count me in!

Paypal is safest for all concerned. Good luck with your sale and I'll be there!

  35. PayPal leaves me out. Hubby has an account, but, I don't. That keeps me from buying too much stuff. On other sites, I use a check and wait for it to clear (I'm not in a rush) or use a Money Order.

  37. I think this is a fabulous idea! A lot of my purchasing is done on line which saves time and gas!
And what woman can resist (a) a good bargain and (b) a good bargain from a fellow seamstress?
