My mind has been ticking lately and that can be dangerous!! I have some posts that I've wanted to do, but wanted to ask a few questions first...just to get your opinion!
Topic 1...Yard Sale Saturday on S.M.W.
I've been cleaning out some things in my sewing room and around the house that I haven't used in a while or no longer need. I would rather sell these things on my blog, because I "know" most of you. (you know what I mean by "know most of you"...through blogging Lol)
Having a yard sale at my own home might bring a few people who would want what I'm selling, but posting a few things each Saturday would bring the things to people who would really want it...a broader audience.
The bonus for you would be to go to a yard sale in your pajamas!!
I've seen other people sell things on their blogs and wonder how it works out for them.
Here are my questions and thoughts on it.
- do you think this would be a good feature on my blog?
- would you buy things in this way?
- I would require Paypal for payment
- I would ship on Wednesday and Friday
- I would only charge you the actual shipping charge...no extra
- the item would have a set price...no bidding
- first come, first serve basis through the comments section.
- you must have an email in the comment for contact reasons
- I would post the items at 10:00 am eastern standard time in the US on Saturdays. That would make it fair for most time zones. (except maybe Hawaii and Australia...sorry Hawaii and Australia)
I was going to talk about other topics, but I'll do that on another post. Too much info on one post is an overload! Lol
Thanks for you opinion,
~Karen~
Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm in!

I think it is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteBonnie at Quiltville does this one Saturday a month. Last time I got some darling fabric for my granddaughter. Yes she does Pay pal too!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a super idea!
ReplyDeleteIts a great idea. I say go for it.
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this done on other blogs as well and wondered if it would work for me. I'll let you be the guinea pig, watch the comments and see if its a fit. Love shopping and selling from home!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea - but I expect I'll be in bed! I'll have to work out the time difference!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! I love a good garage sale.
ReplyDeleteWhy not link up with Bonnie at Quiltville? She already does this one Saturday a month with several bloggers linking up to hers to show theirs. You would likely get more views this way anyway.
ReplyDeleteSounds good & a fun way to "shop" :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a fool for a good garage sale. I'll be there!
ReplyDeleteI will always be at work at that time, but will be checking to see it for sure as soon as I get home from work. I think it is a wonderful idea!!
ReplyDeleteWhy not!!
ReplyDeleteYou could have a post on how to do pay pal, too. It is a great idea. Now, I need a phone that would work for internet....b
ReplyDeleteSure! I think it's a good idea and I would definitely support you in your effort:)
ReplyDeleteI'm setting up a sewing room and could use stuff... Go for it.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these type sales be VERY successful! Bonnie Hunter had one on her blog a few weeks ago, and everything was sold in minutes! You have tons of followers, too, so you'll have no problem. She had a linky for others to sell from their own blogs, and I saw a LOT of stuff sold very quickly for others, as well. It's a win-win!
ReplyDeleteSounds great but are International followers included in this?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing myself, always have things I won't use anymore and so many crafters out there, who might want them. Either that or a swap with things I have for things I need.

Hi! I think it is a great idea! Are you talking a linky party?
ReplyDeleteI have a number of books I'd like to sell for a nominal price, but don't seem to be moving. I'd appreciate more exposure, maybe they would sell!
Take care, Leslie
Great idea!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think it's a great way to sell things! What you no longer need could be someone else's treasure!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited till I saw 'no australia'! Damn you vast sea between us hehe Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteI think that will be great. Make sure to give us a heads up as I need to set my alarm.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a wonderful idea. You know already that we like to craft, which is why we follow your awesome blog. What better way to feel good about selling something than to sell it to your followers? :) I'm in!
ReplyDeleteHey, try it, and if it doesn't work, then stop it. I would check it out.
ReplyDeleteKaren can I request what I want you to get rid of.....just kidding.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a great idea. If it doesn't work you can always call it off.
I would be interested. I think it is a great idea too.

i love this idea and yes, i'd most definitely be interested in what you have to sell!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you'll have any problems selling it all. Sounds like plenty of interest and of course I'll buy some stuff I'm sure I could live without. LOL! I like the linky party idea...when they're done buying from you they can move on to others. :). I'd be in on that too!

ReplyDeleteLove your blog. Good luck on your sale.
I love this idea. I will have to make myself a big note and tape it to the computer so I wouldn't forget the date. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good idea to me. I would like to see what you've got. I'll keep checking back for the yard sale at your blog. Thanks, Marsha
ReplyDeleteSounds terrific!
ReplyDeleteI Think it's a great idea!

Excellent idea; I'm in!
ReplyDeleteSuper idea!
ReplyDeletelove it!
ReplyDeleteI have already put many of your ideas into practice and would love to go thru your "garage sale" !!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to shop!
ReplyDeleteI think your online yard sale sounds like fun too. I check your blog every day just to see what you are up to, LOL.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! Count me in!
ReplyDeletePaypal is safest for all concerned. Good luck with your sale and I'll be there!
PayPal leaves me out. Hubby has an account, but, I don't. That keeps me from buying too much stuff. On other sites, I use a check and wait for it to clear (I'm not in a rush) or use a Money Order.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun yard sale in my pj's !!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a fabulous idea! A lot of my purchasing is done on line which saves time and gas!
ReplyDeleteAnd what woman can resist (a) a good bargain and (b) a good bargain from a fellow seamstress?

You can but try, and it sounds fun, oh and don't worry to much about us is Aus lol the postage cost would most likely take the fun out of it .
