I had a few placemats left over from other projects I've made in the past, so I thought I would share another idea for a quick sew apron using one placemat!
These projects are my favorite, because they are semi homemade with the placemat already sewn for you. With just a few lines of straight stitching, you can make these quick and easy gifts too!!
Come on in to see how easy...
One rectangle placemat.
Fold up lower edge to desired pocket depth.
If you want to add trim to the pocket edge, you must do this first.
Pin the raw edge of trim to the back side of placemat.
Sew trim on with straight stitch.
Now that your trim is attached, fold up the lower edge again and pin the 2 sides.
You can also decide how many pockets you want. One line of stitching in the middle for 2 pockets and 2 lines of stitching will give you 3 pockets.
Before you sew the seams, pin on the apron ties. I cut my ribbon about 30 inches long for each.
Fold over the raw edge 1/4 inch twice.
Now place the ribbon in each upper corner of the apron.
Have the folded edge of the ribbon facing the back of the placemat.
Pin to the back side of the apron.
Done!!
For a great hostess gift for the holidays, add baking extract or spices, measuring spoons, whisk and some hot pads.
These aprons are great for anyone...
- Children...add paint supplies, crafts or little toys.
- Quilting friends...add rotary cutter, thread etc.
- Dads too...add packages of screws and some tools.
Hope you can make lots of these too. You'll be happy when you have that emergency gift supply ready for the holidays.
Thanks for stopping by!!
