Here is another blogging tip for you...help with your Feedburner account.
Feedburner is Google's email subscription you may have on your blog. It's that little gadget that you added so people can be sent your blog posts through their email...the post goes right to their inbox. I added that gadget so long ago, I actually forgot that you can check all the details that go along with Feedburner.
One important detail is the time your post is sent out to your subscribers. For some reason, I always thought the post was sent out the same time it was made public through Blogger.
Did you know that you can change the time when that email of your post is sent...the time zone too? It's really easy.
Go to Feedburner...I'm always signed into my blogger account, so when I click on Feedburner, my account automatically shows up.
I have 2 accounts (in the picture below), because I added Feedburner when I first started blogging on my own. Then Blogger came up with the gadget that you add to the side bar.
To start, click on the Title of your blog...
On the next screen, click on PUBLICIZE (the top red circle)
UPDATE...Thank you for telling me Suzy...The next step should be to click "EMAIL SUBSCRIPTIONS" on the left. (I love my readers...Thanks Suzy!!)
Then, again on the left side, click on DELIVERY OPTIONS (bottom left red circle)
There are 2 red check marks in the picture below. The first is a drop down box for YOUR time zone. Believe it or not, mine was set to central time...I'm in the east. I didn't even realize.
The second check mark is the time frame you would like your blog post to be sent via email to your subscribers.
The bottom left circle is the SAVE buttom. you must click that!!
I found this time change and time zone issue helpful when I post my blog sale at a certain time. The post is published Saturday mornings at 10:00 am. However, a blogging friend, Gloria, sent me an email saying she didn't get her email subscription until 8:00 pm Idaho time.
When I finally researched and researched how this could happen, I found that my settings were... sending time was 9:00pm - 11:00pm in the Central time zone. OMG!! All fixed now though. Thanks Gloria, for letting me know!
Hope this helps,
~Karen~
Karen, this was so helpful! I was wondering why my email subscription was sent so late. I was also on central time, but am eastern as you are. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea we could set the time frame for sending out the emails! Thanks so much for this tip <3
ReplyDeleteI too was on central time and live on the east coast. Thanks so much. I've fixed mine as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is great as I when I received your sale email, everything had been sold. Am looking forward to next week when I receive the email earlier!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS! Mine was set to Bahgdad time? I'm in the Philly are - goodness.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the "Delivery Options" on the left column. Did you pay extra for extra services? :-(
ReplyDeleteI hope Karen won't mind me answering! I had to click first on "Email Subscriptions". "Delivery Options" is listed under that. Hope this helps!
DeleteHi Suzy! Thanks so much! That did the trick. And thankfully, since I forgot to have followup comments sent to my email, Karen kept me posted. THANK YOU! My emails are now going out when I want them to :-)
DeleteThank you so much! Even with your instructions, it took me some searching, but I finally figured it out.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tip, Karen! Mine was set incorrectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Karen. Once I start blogging more often, I'm going to set this up. Right now, I'm just trying to get people to read it and comment and possibly follow it.
ReplyDeletevery helpful, I was able to switch mine to the right time! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteThis is a bit off topic, but it is blogger-related. I'm using the new blogger interface. How in the world do I get to the dashboard? The only way I see is to go to someone else's blog, and use the 'sign in' button there, although I did just bookmark the dashboard, and can get there that way.
Another thing, I've noticed that at the bottom is says 'posted 3 weeks ago' (or whenever), until I get back to around 2/6/12. So I don't know if it goes by a certain length of time (6 wks??) or if I somehow changed something.
Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
I read this blog and i get many different type of knowledge from it.It really amazing blog.Thanx to share with us.
