Thoughts on Thursday...

I had mentioned this about couple of years ago, but it bears repeating. It comforts me to know there are other people out there who do similar...let's say...crazy things!! Lol
What things do I do that are crazy, odd, etc? Well, here are 2 with food that I had mentioned in the past.

  1. When I go into a loaf of bread, I go beyond the first outer crust piece "and" the next slice of bread to get to a squishier piece of bread. Why not just take that first slice?
  2. When I spread peanut butter on crackers, I spread it on the back, flat, wrong side of the cracker. Why?...I don't know
Obviously, with admitting these 2, there must be more, but I shall keep those for another time. Don't want to scare too many people away...Lol !!

I know I'm not alone on this...what do you have ladies, I know there must be something...it doesn't have to be about food either.

Happy Thoughts,
~Karen~

  1. I do the same thing with a new loaf of bread!! LOL

  2. I do the same thing with the bread. Everyone in my family always did, so at the end there's only two heels of bread. I thought it kept the inner parts fresher??

Anyway, my thing is that I have to take the eggs out of the carton from the outside in so that it's always balanced in the middle. If someone doesn't do it right, I rearrange them. This is because once I grabbed the eggs from the center and it was half full on one end and I wasn't expecting the lopsided weight ... I dropped them all on the floor. So now I know that the center will always be the heaviest (at least in my house)!

  3. I do BOTH! I actually was just putting PB on my rice cake and thought...am I putting it on the wrong side?

Glad I am in good company!

  4. By peanut buttering the flat side of the cracker, your tongue hits the top, which has a better texture since it was wasn't squished into the baking sheet while baking and, if the cracker has been dusted with salt or herbs, has the flavor. It's logical!

Same reason to eat a hamburger upside down -- I want to taste the nicely-formed top of the bun, not the flat, floury bottom that was on the baking surface in the oven.

  5. My quirky food thing is I precut my steak before I sit down to eat.

  6. I do the same with the bread, I want TWO pieces that are equally fresh and squishy. Then when you get to the bottom I hope I am making grilled cheese if I am stuck with the first piece of bread. Then the two heels get ripped up and fed to the dogs, they love it!

Whenever I do crackers and whatever I do the same, and if I am making a cracker sandwich, the bottoms of both crackers go to the middle. :D

Whenever we have corn on the cob, and it isn't that flavorful of a bunch, I grab the mayo and spread a thin layer on it, it adds so much flavor and it is delicious. Don't knock it till you try it.

I love Girlscout mint cookies, but Keebler now makes some that taste the same, so when I buy them they go straight into the freezer, when I want a few cookies, I take them out of the package in the freezer and eat them before they warm up. They don't taste as good if they are room temperature.

I know there has to be more, but I can't think of them right now.

So we are not the crazy ones here are we?

  7. Oh my gosh!! Me too, mee toooo! I never thought about it really... until now.. I guess I'm not as weird as I thought.. unless we are both really weird. LOL

  8. well, Momma said saving the end crust- the heel, helps your loaf stay fresh and keep it's shape...That's why I do it. It's fun to think over these reasons sometimes. Crazy or not!

  10. No you won't scare me ... I love you even more now..cause I'm doing the same here!

  11. I don't find either of those things strange. I do the same with both.

  12. I do the same with bread - and when I make cornbread I cut it and then take the middle slice.

And when I buy peanut butter I NEED to be the one to open the jar. I always eat a spoonful. Love the taste of the peanut butter as soon as it's opened.

  13. Same with the bread if I buy it from the store, but if its a homemade loaf fresh from the oven I love the warm crusty end!
Toilette paper put on backwards drives me crazy!! It needs to be rolling from the top not underneath! I will always change the roll around....crazy....mmmmm maybe!! lol

  14. I do the same thing with bread, unless I'm making toast. I *love* the heel toasted! But for a peanut butter sandwich, I do have to reach in for the softest slices. Go figure! LOL

  15. I too do exactly the same with the bread, however I am just the opposite with crackers, for some reason I want mine "buttered" on the top side. Strange how we all seem to have our weird "quirks", but wonderful to know we are NOT alone in them. Love it when you share things like this, keep 'em coming!

  16. The toilet paper has to feed off the roll from the top.

  17. i thought I would be the only one who agreed with you!

  18. Oh my hubby does that when I make a loaf of bread and it drives me crazy!~ LOL
My "quirky thing" is I for some reason cannot drink the last sip in a glass??? who knows! that is all I am admitting to right now!! LOL

  19. Yep...confessions anonymous!!!.....I do the bread thing too! But it works in our house because hubby LOVES the crust! LOL
and I'm with Linda....the toilet roll DEFINITELY has to roll from the top! (is this OCD???? LOL)

  20. Oh my gosh, are we ALL mad. I do nearly all oft those things, especially the bread one and the toilet paper.

  21. I do the same thing with bread and with crackers! I don't want the peanut butter to wipe the salt off! I think this is perfectly normal. :)

  22. Leaving the crust keeps the rest of the bread fresher or more fresh - yep that doesn't sound right does it? Anyway I really think it protects the loaf!

My strange thing is that I put my (sugar free) maple syrup in a little condiment cup for my "healthy" pancakes that I eat quite often. You use far less doing it that way.

  23. I have done that bread thing my whole life!!!! lol

  24. I do the same thing with the bread and peanut butter on crackers. I thought everyone did. lol The one thing I do and don't know why, some may be grossed by it....I leave the cracked egg shells in the egg carton until all of the eggs have been used. Then I throw them all away.

  25. Same on the Bread. but when I make a sandwich the bread has to be facing the same way and I flip one piece over so the curves all match up. I know very OCD. But oh well.

  26. Oh, yes, count me in on the craziness. I do the same. And the toilet paper thing, oh yeah. I've been known to turn it over in a public restroom. Now that's getting bad. ;-/ And Debbie- right on about the bread being turned the same direction. My hubby thinks I'm "loosing it", but maybe not. ( or either you are too). :-) oh, well, that's ok.

  27. I do the bread thing, too.

I also never buy the magazine in the front of the stack. I always have to get the second one....even if I look at the one in the front first.

  28. I do the bread thing for DH because he doesn't like the heel. I'm guessing you do the cracker thing because generally the top is the salted part and you want the sweet part up and the salty on your tounge!? Unless you eat it the other way then IDK....

  29. When I buy something for myself I have to let it live with me for a couple of months before I use it.
