Here is some of the wood the tree service cut into chunks. My husband sees fire wood…
I see stump seating around a fire pit!!
I made little pillows for reach one too.
Come on in and I'll show an easy way to make the pillows.
You could just sit on the stump for seating in the back yard, campfire or fire pit...
but why not have a comfy pillow.
Start with the largest tree stump first!!
Cut it out.
A long time ago, I saved fabric that I trimmed away from hemming curtains. I knew this would be used some day!
Place the template on the fabric.
I eye balled a half inch seam allowance around the entire template. This is for stumps, so nothing has to be exact.
Pin the pillow form together.
Sew 1/2 inch seam all the way around.
Leave an opening for stuffing.
Fill with fiber fill.
Sew opening closed.
Done!!
I sewed all 7 pillows in less than an hour.
The next few projects for this area may be a stone or mulch pit area for the fire pit, new cushions for the couch and chars in the background and I want to spray paint the fire pit with black wood stove spray paint to give it a whole new look.
I'll share those projects as I check them off the "to do" list.
Thanks for stopping by,
~Karen~
I've sat on many a tree stump in my lifetime and I know these pillows will be a butt saver. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same fire bowl. The bottom rusted out, so Pete dug a hole in the ground and set it in. Trying to figure out what to do with the cool round base. Glass circle to make a low table?
ReplyDeleteGreat way to enjoy a fire. Love those comfy pillows!!
ReplyDeleteI did the same some time ago, but I didn't make such a wonderful pillows! And unfortunally I haven't such a beautiful grass. Congratulations.
ReplyDeletethat is too funny! Pillows for your gtree stumps! I think that is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteWow. Thanks for the great Tutorial. Fab fabric.
ReplyDeleteWe usually put board between two stumps for more seating. We never sit for very long as a game of capture the flag is begun.
ReplyDeleteHey you could slice some of that left over wood in planks and make "backs" to your stump seats. That way you would have something to lean on. HHHHHMMMMMMM
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile, Karen. It's carrying decorating to the extreme to make seat cushions for tree stumps, but I loved it too.
ReplyDeleteWe used tree stumps (upright and sideways), along with boulders, to make a sandbox for the kids when they were little. We could also put the fire bowl in the middle for a campfire.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those of us who are obsessive-compulsive, you could number the cushion to the appropriate sized stump! Love it! And here is another idea: my husband is in construction and when they cut out corian tops to put the sinks in the counters, he would bring home the cut out part, round the edges and then I would use it on top of a stump for a low table. They are easily washed off and they don't flutter in the breeze because they are heavy. Just make sure to use a broad enough stump so the "table" won't tip.
