Crock Pot Applesauce Recipe...

My family loves applesauce and homemade is their favorite. I haven't made it in a while, but I was cooking pork chops the other day, so you know we had to have…"pork chops and apple sauce". If you're a fan of the television show The Brady Bunch, you know you're saying that in your head in that long drawn out voice of Humphrey Bogart like Peter did! Lol

Very easy recipe that you can change up to taste…

Crock Pot Apple Sauce

3 pound bag of apples, peeled cored and sliced. A bag is probably 9-12 apples depending on their size. I used Macintosh, but anything will work, even a mixture of apples.
1/2 cup white sugar
sprinkle of brown sugar
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup apple juice or cider  (water if you don't have the juice)

Place apple slices in crock pot. Add sugar, cinnamon and apple juice. Mix together.

Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8. Stir once or twice, if you're home.

The apple sauce will be chunky.

You can put it through a food processor if you want very smooth apple sauce, but I used a hand held potato masher to make it semi chunky.

Be careful with hot foods in a food processor…don't fill it up too much and pulse at first. Hot foods can splash.

Not only is this delicious, but your house will smell so good all day!!

We ate this warm and is perfect for cold winter days, but the little bit we had left was stored in the refrigerator and was yummy cold too.

Great warm over vanilla ice cream. It's like apple pie a la mode, without the work of making the pie!!

  1. Hi, for the apple juice / cider/water you did not specify whether it is a cup or a pint. Please help.
1/2 apple juice or cider or water if you don't have the juice.

    1. Thanks so much for letting me know. It's 1/2 cup of juice or water. I updated it already. I couldn't email you directly, because there wasn't an email address attached to your google account or this comment, so I hope you come back to check. Thanks again!

  2. We LOVE crock pot applesauce at our house !
You can change around the recipe for all kinds of different tastes.
    It never fails ;)

  3. I think its more complicated than it should be! Just put the water and apples in a pot...not that much apples at all. No sugar or cinnamon. Cookk slowly til soft. You can even omit the peeling if you use a food mill...this way it is sugar free and more natural. You can sprinkle on the cinnamon when you serve it. I freeze it til ready to use...

  4. This is an easy and delicious recipe for my large family. Just set it and forget it! It is a tasty treat in addition to any of our healthy meals. The sweeter the better. Lots of cinnamon is key for me.

  5. Oh count me the ways to make such a tasty meal. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Karen, I've been following your site for some time now, and just love all your ideas! A few days ago, I was scanning the Web, and I found a web site with two of your pictures on it. The first picture was a small one at the beginning of the bog. The second one (same picture, just larger) was at the end of the blog with the web-site's name across the bottom of it, as if it were her picture. I wrote a note asking why you weren't given credit for the picture, but my e-mail went unanswered. Just wanted to make you aware...... Diane

  7. Karen, I make my applesauce on the stove top. For a change up I throw in a small handful of red hots (candies). It really adds a nice flavor to the applesauce.

  8. I'll bet it smelled great!!! This looks yummy. I loved applesauce as a child. My Grandmother always made it. I loved it on toast.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment...I just love hearing from you!
