Find a Friend Friday and Ask the World a Question...

Welcome to another fabulous Friday!! Today is the day where I combined both of my Friday features into one..."Find a Friend Friday Linky Party" and "Ask the World a Question". It's the best, because it's all about YOU!!!

Add your blog to the linky party below AND ask all your questions in the comment section! Details for each are below.

Hope you can join us!

Question and Answers

Here's how it will work...
  • post your question in the comment section. You can ask anything at all...from sewing, cooking, family, vacationing in other countries, crafting, blogging, photography, decorating...anything goes
  • everyone will read the question
  • if someone has a helpful answer, that person will click the "REPLY" button right under THAT particular question and post the answer!!
  • that way everyone can read the answer too!!
  • this is helpful for those who don't like to share their email address or who are "no replies" and there isn't an email address to respond to
  • just come back to this post to see if your question has been answered!!

Find a Friend Linky Party

This is easy to participate in. You are just linking to your own blog. No Pressure!! No projects to sew, no furniture to paint, no cookies to bake or pictures to take. You are just sharing your site and then friends will stop by for a visit.

  • at the very end of this post, click on the "click here to enter" link...way at the end, after the last blog that has been linked. See it way down there at the bottom?
  • copy and paste or just type in your blog address...example: http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com
  • enter title of link...your blog name or phrase to grab attention
  • add a photo of you, your profile picture or your blog button or whatever you think will grab some one's attention...(I'm thinking a picture of a big piece of chocolate cake, but that's just me LOL)

That's it...super easy. Have fun checking in on all the new blogs. Come back, because more are added all the time!

Don't forget to check out the comment section too...there are ALWAYS great questions and helpful answers.

Happy Blogging,
~Karen~

  1. How do you know when it is time to get rid of hand sewing needles?

    1. I don't do a lot of hand sewing, but it seems like my needles last for quite a while. When the needle feels like it's getting dull, won't easily slip through the fabric, that's when I change them out.

    2. I believe that some pin cushions actually sharpen needles and pins so perhaps finding or making one with grit inside would sharpen those dull needles.

    3. If you have a pin cushion with emery sand or lizard litter that should sharpen the needle back up. Those tomato pin cushions have an attached strawberry that is filled with emery for that purpose.

    4. You will find that the needle simply doesn't go into the fabric as easily as it used to. If you want to, do a simple test by using the old needle for a few stitches, then change to a brand new one. If you can feel the difference in the stitching, then its time to pitch the old needle. Sometimes you can actually feel very tiny burrs on the tip of the needle if you scrape it gently along the surface of the tip of your finger.

  2. Well, Karen said we could ask anything! We are going to Las Vegas for the first time in November. My husband will be in a motorized chair. What's the inside scoop to visiting. We really don't know where to start. So much to see, so much to do. One friend suggested, upon check in we ask for perks and upgrades. And how do you travel from the airport to the hotel? Thank you!

    1. Sounds fun, definitely ask for perks and upgrades, what hotel are you at? Your hotel should offer shuttle service from the airport. The strip goes for miles and everyting will look alot closer than it really is. Caesar Palace and The Venetian have beautiful indoor decor thoughout. The Bellagio water fountain show in front is beautiful. You can see erupting volcano in front of the Mirage. You can buy 2 for one and discount tickets at ticket outlets for many of the shows. Not sure of the best way to get around with a motorized chair, taxi or bus. And, you are right so much to see and do. I would go to Las Vegas web site and see what is going on during the time you are there and make an iternery from there. Hope this helps somewhat.

    2. When I went I bought a shuttle ticket to the hotel once I got off the plane. I bought round trip and it was cheaper. Dropped us off and picked us up at the hotel. The inside scoop depends upon what you want to do. I enjoyed slots most at Paris. People watching was great everywhere. We saw Circa de Solei (spelling?) Beatles love. My advice is to move early to anywhere you want to be. There are so many people. At night I would probably pay the money for a cab in your circumstances. Everything "wakes up" about 3:00 p.m. and gets crazier the later it goes.

  3. I am in need of storage ideas for large (29x36 inches) sheets of decorative paper. I'm currently using a quilt rack for my Japanese papers as they drape and stack nicely without damage; my other papers are currently stacked and the edges become damaged. The main solution appears to be metal flat files, but these are costly and I would need several as I have hundreds of sheets of paper. The papers become difficult to work with if rolled (even after ironing) -- any thoughts?

    1. How about hanging them from pant/skirt hangers? The pinchy part (technical term, lol) might damage a bit of the paper where it holds the paper though. Perhaps putting some foam on the pinchy parts before putting the paper in the hanger? Then hang in the closet or some other area that you want to hang it.

    2. Maybe 2 sheets of foam core board/poster board cut to size with duct tape on one side for a hinge? You could make a few and stack them. Sorta like making a book to tuck them in. Hope that makes sense. Should be pretty inexpensive.

    3. Thank you both for those helpful ideas -- they each have merit based on the many different types of paper I have.

  4. I'm having a Fall blog hop and have told my friends and linked up with those who have Linky parties to let people know about my hop. I started learning about blogging back in July, when I participated in a hop and I learned a lot, but there's so much to learn. I look at blogging tips and other's blogs to get ideas but think I'm missing something. If anyone has the time, I could use some tips about having a successful hop and blogging in general! Thanks!

  5. Does anybody have a brilliant idea for like-new Beanie Babies??? Who might want them? We have many - maybe several dozen! According to the original giver-to-my-kids, "they'll be worth money someday, don't remove the tags" :/

  6. There is a ministry where shoeboxes filled with non-perishables and small toys, toothpaste, toothbrush, wash cloth, combs, hard candy and stuff like that are sent to children all over the world at Christmas time. Beanie Babies would be perfect to put in the shoeboxes. Small, soft, snuggly toys. They will be well-loved. Here is the link:

  7. You can also donate them to children's hospitals as well.

  8. OK So I can ask any question. Does anyone know why my blogger profile photo does not appear when I comment on someone else's blog? This has been bugging me for ages. I log into blogger using a Google profile, and when I check all the different levels (blogger, Google etc. the photo is there, but it still does not appear on comments. I have even uploaded a new photo, and gone through the process of changing it everywhere with no luck.
