The title pretty much tells you all the ingredients, but Courtney made this recipe this past weekend and she can't remember the name. It should just be called Yummy Bars.
Thanks, Courtney, for making such a delicious treat...
The layers are a boxed brownie, cream cheese, pudding then whipped topping.
Here's the recipe...
1 boxed brownie, prepared in 13 x 9 pan according to directions on the box
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
2 (8 oz) containers whipped topping
1 (3 oz) package instant vanilla pudding
1 (3 oz) package instant chocolate pudding
3 1/2 cups milk
chocolate shavings for decoration (optional)
Directions: Prepare the brownie mix according to directions. Bake in greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Cool completely. Beat cream cheese, then add powdered sugar and 1 container whipped topping. Spread mixture on top of the cooled brownies. Mix both boxes of pudding in one bowl and add the milk*. Pour on top of the cream cheese mixture. Top with some of the second container of whipped topping. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
*side note...we didn't have a box of vanilla pudding so we just used 2 boxes of chocolate! More chocolate never hurts, right?
To get cute little chocolate curls, just use a vegetable peeler on the side of a chocolate bar!
Enjoy!!
Happy Baking,
~Karen~

here in Australia we don't have whipped topping. what exactly is it? we might have something similar or the same but with a different name. any ideas people of the world?
ReplyDeleteHi...here in the states, whipped topping (name brand Cool Whip) is an imitation of real whipping cream. It's yummy and holds up better in desserts when you mix it with puddings, cream cheese etc. Hope this helps. I'm sure real whipping cream would work, it might just lose it's density or thickness after the first day or two.
DeleteA questioned I have asked before Leicia its that fake cream stuff in a pressure can you get at the supermarket, really awful LOL (sorry Karen) use fresh whipped cream you don't need to use so much either
DeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteThis looks and sounds delicious! Can't wait to try it!

Here's a question that is probably going to sound stupid but are the vanilla and chocolate puddings mixed together or separately? From the directions, it sounds as if they are mixed all together with the milk.
ReplyDeleteNot stupid at all...It said to mix them both together in one bowl then add the milk. Probably not to make it so chocolatey. However, we didn't have vanilla pudding, so we used 2 boxes of chocolate...never enough chocolate, right?
DeleteThanks for asking, I'm going back into the post to clarify this.
This looks so yummy thank you for sharing the recipe.

This sounds heavenly! I think I will make some up and take it to work. No matter where one works there is always the love of chocolate in common.
ReplyDeleteThey look YUMMY! I think Yummy Bars is a good name for them!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Looks so delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect dessert for my crew! Can't wait to try it. Thanks Karen and Courtney for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the adorable little white plate too :)
My SIL makes a similar cake and she calls it "The Better Than S_x cake". Not quite sure that it fits... it's good, you be the judge! LoL... Making me hungry that's for sure! Have to go make something chocolate.
