Well, today's thrifty tip is about coins...as screwdrivers.
There are lots of things that we have that need a screwdriver and this wireless keyboard is just one example.
On the side is the compartment where the batteries are kept. I keep extra batteries in the desk, but didn't have a handy screwdriver...
or "did" I !! Coin to the rescue.
I think there are more times that I have a coin handy than a screwdriver. I just need to remember to use it!
Money for tools...should have saved this for Tool Time Tuesday instead of Thrifty Thursday.
Either day...still a good tip!!
Have a great day,
~Karen~
believe it or not. i keep a small French dime-size coin in my sewing machine. in lieu of the little screwdriver it quickly loosens the screw when replacing the machine needle. and i remember that dollar bill tip.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, A real money saving tip indeed!!!

I've done that before. Here's one for tool time. I have used the heel of my high heels as a hammer, a butter knife as a screwdriver, and the handle of a screwdriver as a hammer.
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Karen, I just had to replace the batteries in the keyboard last night. I keep a nail clippers by the keyboard so, when I'm uploading a bunch of photos to Flickr, I spend some time looking at my not so neat nails and trimming potential hangnail. I used the "handle" end of the nail clippers to unscrew that compartment. It got me thinking. With the prevalence of debit cards, how many of us actually have change?
ReplyDeleteMy machine's manual specifically tells you to use a penny to unscrew the plate because even the tiny screwdriver won't fit! I always (always) try to do it with my nails first and it never works, obviously :)
