Thank you to everyone who commented or checked in on us during the hurricane. We weathered the storm with power back on midweek, but we just had cable, internet and phones restored last night!!
We live along the southern coast of Rhode Island and our town beach and Misquamicut State Beach areas are devastated. Being without internet and television, you seem out of touch. Although we did have cell phone and radios. I am just now realizing the destruction in New Jersey and New York.
Here are a few photos from our beach area...
The ocean on the right and the salt pond on the left breached. Sand and water through the entire area.
Clean up begins to find the roads under all the sand.
The power of mother nature...scary
With the need to get things back to normal, I'll be right back with another post for Find a Friend Friday.
~Karen~
So happy to hear you are okay and back on-line. So much devastation, and so much work to be done. You are so right that Mother Nature is scary. You just can't stop water and wind. Blessings!!
ReplyDeleteMother Nature had taken over for a few days. Glad you are okay, but we see images and footing from NYC and Staten Island, New Yersey. Scary!!
ReplyDeleteDelighted to hear that you're ok. The devastation is almost unbelievable - Mom Nature was some angry.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are safe and well. I've been watching updates on the news and am shocked at the devastation.

ReplyDeleteKaren, Welcome home. I'm so glad to see you're safe.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are okay! We lost cable, phone and internet too - was just restored yesterday afternoon. For a news junkie like me, it was tough not to watch the last few days. I really felt cut off too. Our cells phones didn't work either. Glad we're getting pretty much back to normal!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you are safe. Your pictures tell quite a story. While many are still suffering, each and every one of our fellow countrymen are important. Blogging puts a face to the families we read about and your family and friends are people I care about through this connection. I pray that the clean-up will unite folks in this particularly difficult time in our country. Blessing Karen, I am relieved for the update.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are safe and sound. Amazing how dependent we are on the electronics in our lives. So much devastation in the N.E., but as a nation we come together to help and even though I know recovery will take some time, I also know it will happen.

ReplyDeleteI'm sew glad you are okay and now it's clean up time! I have been wanting to do something besides donate $$ to Salvation Army & Red Cross, so found a nice blogger who is coordnating making quilt blocks into quilts for the victims who have lost their homes.
ReplyDeleteHere's my blog post about making blocks if you don't mind that I share it here.

ReplyDeleteI feel very fortunate when I see all the distruction "Sandy" caused. Never heard wind like that before. I'm in NJ and alot of my friends are dealing with beach houses that have water damage, but at least they are still there! so many homes were lost. The beaches all along the coast have alot of clean up to do - so sad.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are safe. I fear it will be a long time before things seem back to normal and pray that all will be well sooner than expected.
