In the past, to add that special touch to photos, I have always used the free photo editing service of Picnik. Unfortunately, Picnik is closing down in April. The site is still great and open for use by anyone...free of charge...even the premium services are free.
However, I've found an awesome new site that was started by 2 former Picnik engineers...
PicMonkey!!! This is the BEST photo editing site. I have no affiliation with them... just LOVE them and wanted to share. They're funny too!
The site is...
- user friendly
- has so many features
- and it's FREE...yay!
- Basic...crop, rotate, resize etc
- Effects...so many!!
- Touch Ups...wrinkle remover etc (Yay!!)
- Text...add words
- Overlays...add shapes
- Borders...add frames, rounded corners etc
Have a happy Monday,
~Karen~
I am sad Picnik is closing....BIG mistake Google...Huge!! I too, stumbled upon Picmonkey. It is easy to use which is a great plus for me. I do have Photoshop, but with easier programs like Picnik I never forced myself to use it much. I have been playing with it more and I am starting to figure it out a little, but I like having something simple when I want to edit a photo in a few minutes vs. an hour such as Picmonkey. I also discovered ipiccy.com which is free as well and offers curves.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the help. I use Picnik a lot and was going to be so lost without it. You saved me.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I too was mourning the loss of Picnik. And I too have photoshop but no time to really learn it especially with sites that make photo editing so much easier. Thanks so much for sharing this info!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I was hoping someone from Picnik would develop another photo editing site. Thanks so much for the review and suggestion!!
ReplyDeleteI've just spent a happy half hour playing with PicMonkey! Thanks for your recommendation - some of us technophobes would never get anywhere without a little help.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I loved Picnik and wondered what to do without them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! I used Picnik too and am going to head over to PicMonkey right now and bookmark them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, I been wondering who to use since Picnic i s closing.
ReplyDeleteWow - a site with no registration. I have no idea how many usernames and passwords are floating around out there for me to remember. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteHope to check it out soon thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI had never used Picnic, but found PicMonkey about 2 weeks ago - I have had fun using it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I never used Picnic much, but I'll give this one a try.
ReplyDeleteI was just getting aquainted with Picnik and then, they went "away". I'm glad to find Pic-monkey. Thanks!

Thanks for this, I didn´t even know that there are such programms in the internet!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, Karen - this really is the best! I've tried so many, and found them so confusing. But this one!!!! Can't wait for collages to come! Thanks for sharing this! Now I have to go blog, just so I can play!
ReplyDeleteCan you email with pic monkey? I need an email site like picnik had, as I have a friend that could only get and see my pictures that I would send her if I sent them through picnik....anyone have suggestions I would appreciate it....thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Karen. PicMonkey is AWESOME!! It's too bad I didn't know about this site about 3 days ago. My husband is installing Photoshop Elements 10 and it's NOT user-friendly. Now that I have it, I've also found there's no user manual so I ordered 'The Missing Manual' so I can learn to use it. Knowing about PicMonkey would have saved us alot of money and much more frustration. I did not know free programs like this existed. I guess I need to do more exploring.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and love it. Thanks for sharing your creativity, suggestions and hard work. You are truly an INSPIRATION.
Karen, thanks for the info. I've not used any of these sites, but will check into it. Looks interesting and fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Thank you so much for this - I will pass it on to my students at school as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm having slight panic attacks thinking about the end of picnik! I get so used to something and do not like to have to change! Thanks for this info- I can't wait to check out the site! =)
ReplyDelete{{{Hugs to you Karen!}}} Thank you so much for this info! I too like Jewelry Bug says, installed Photoshop Elements two years ago and have not touch the darn thing....feels too complicated! Am checking out the one Farmer&39;s Wife say about ipiccy. I'm so excited...I've got 2 sites to play with for my pictures! Again "Thanks so much Karen for this info".
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for sharing! This is fun and easy!
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing find! Thanks for sharing this, just had a quick look and it is fab! Love the wrinkle and fake tan effects - I think hours of fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for the link. I was really missing Picnik
ReplyDeleteYay ... thanks for sharing this ... I've been wondering when to start worrying about where to look in mid-April.
ReplyDeleteI checked it out and it is awesome! Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I have also been wondering which program I would use when picnik closed. Thanks for recommending picmonkey. I'll definitely be checking it out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on this other photo editer. I went there to check it out and loved all the different possibilities to perfect photos. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me about that site! I was using Light Box (the free version) which I really like but I don't think it has a way to erase wrinkles. At almost 50 years old, I needed an easy-to-use wrinkle-eraser :)
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero! I was so sad about Picnik too bcs it was soooo user friendly! Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteI happened to see PicMonkey recently and I was wondering about it now I know. I guess I'll have to try them out. I use photo shop too but sometimes I want more.
ReplyDeleteTried the site and love it!! Thank you so much for another great tip.
ReplyDeleteThanks for great information you write it very clean. I am very lucky to get this tips from you
