This is a 100% cotton tablecloth...
for $3.74 down from $14.99. Do I need another tablecloth? NO
But could I use this heavy weight fabric to make tote bags for Courtney and Kelsie or grocery bags to take to the market? YES!
Do I need another vinyl tablecloth? Another NO!
But for $1.48, can I make a design wall from the flannel backing on the tablecloth or a cute drop cloth for the craft table while painting something or maybe a lined tote bag? YES!
Ok, you can't repurpose candles, but these were just to cheap to pass up.
48 cents...that's cheaper than a pack of gum.
These are candle holders.
Cheap, cheap, cheap.
and look, I have cheap candles to go in them! The candle holders would be great for other things too...Q tips in your bathroom, bread sticks or pretzel rod holder, pen holder, etc.
These are plastic place mats. Why did I buy them? Who knows, but you know they were cheap. I stood in the isle staring at them, rolling them up, playing with them. Then my husband walked over, saw that glazed look in my eye and all he said was...Tool Time? Enough said. I bought 10 of them! LOL
I'm hoping to make something this week with these goodies and when I take the pictures, I'll share the Afters of all these Befores.

Have a great Monday,

Oh Karen I do the same thing. I try to think of how can I use this item in a different way. I mean a bargain is a bargain :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've got me wanting to go check out the clearance aisles!! I have a tendency not to look at the sale items for the same reasons you mentioned. I can't wait to see your finished projects!!

Our Husbands know us well dont they? I went with mine to Home Depot the other day when all he wanted was an air filter. I, on the other hand, was ready to peruse the aisles. He was about to leave me and come back and get me later!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteJust found you thru Funky Junk. I love what I've seen so far....great ideas and designs!
Don't you just love the 'end caps' at Target? Makes me want to go today!
Looking forward to future posts,
Blessings,
Susie
LOVE your bargains!! I use place mats like that to make bag bottoms sturdy. I make a little pouch that will fit in the bottom of the bag. Then cut the place mats in a double layer to fit and tuck it inside! Then I don't worry about spills soaking a cardboard bottom! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteWow... you made out like a bandit at Target! WTG!
ReplyDeleteGreat repurpose ideas you shared. Vinyl table cloth also makes a great dog bed protector/liner too. Cut vinyl to fit the pillow part as a case and slip the bed inside then put the original bed cover back on. Saves the pillow from smell and wet.
ReplyDeleteYou can repurpose candles, though I haven't tried it yet. If you heat them to get soft on the outside, you can roll them in fixins and give them a prim look.

Hmmmm... I feel a trip to Target coming on! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour husband knows you so well....you did get some good bargains there and I am so looking forward to seeing what you do with it all.
ReplyDeletewow! Some great buys! You can make tote bags out of some plastic placemats. It just depends on whether or not you can sew it with your sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! I just stop by for a quick visit, and had a blast reading your post. Now, when I go shopping and see a good item on sale, I don´t think what I could do with that...Instead I think.."What would Karen do with that?" hahahaa!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the metal stamping post!!! Congrats to your husband on his birthday!
You are just so clever! I can just hear the clogs turning in your head! Ha! I see your husband turning down the store aisle, listening to the hum...a beacon to his wife! lol
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you come up with.
I'm loving all of your fabulous ideas! I will look forward to your makeovers and am a new fan of your Tuesday posts. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteClearance and sale are the first sections I check! I love the idea of using those candleholders for pens or snacks, so jazzy! Can't wait to see what you do with those placemats...
ReplyDeleteAwesome deals!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your way of shopping!! I always go through the clearance aisles. You just don't know what you'll find there!
ReplyDeleteAwesome buys...you just have that knack for finding great things...and using them..
ReplyDeleteI shall look more closely at sale items now, and look beyond what it really is..
Thanks Julia ♥
Wish I could find bargains as good as that in our Target store! Love the red vinyl tablecloth!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw curtains made from that Target tablecloth on another blog. Sorry I can't remember the name.
ReplyDeleteWow, such great ideas from really bargain supplies. And, like WoolenSails said you can re-purpose candles, warm up the outside and a slew of creative designs to the softened wax, they actually sell thin wax strips for this purpose. I also wonder if the circles in the place mats can be cut and used as focals in jewelry design, meaning the focals are the base with a charm laid or hanging in front of.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these great ideas!

I love getting a deal! You make me laugh with your cheap candles in the cheap holders! :D
ReplyDeleteI buy every seasonal placemat they sell. Let's pretend I do it for the kids... ;)
lol I am loving that statement from Hubby! Tool time! lol that's too funny! Good bargains to! I LOVE your blog!!!! You are an inspiration!!! I am working on organizing my sewing room and office right now and just posted some of my things I am organizing. I believe it was you that made the little storage things out of those little solo cups. (that's my next project)I love all your ideas! Thanx for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up on the vinyl tablecloth (although I didn't get as good a deal). I had been looking for fabric to make a cover for my cutting table. It is right next to the freezer and is frequently used as a staging area. I'll cut the tablecloth down a bit and add some elastic so I can just slip the cover on when I'm not using the cutting table.
ReplyDeleteWow! You really scored. I wish I had the eye to see what other purpose to use a sale item for. I seem to be stuck on the originally intended purpose.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I am loving it already! I use the Target Placemats to cut out patterns for things that I will be tracing over and over again i.e. headband flowers to cut out. You don't get curled up edges like you would if you used cardboard. They stay good for a really long time!
ReplyDeleteOh yes I bought a table cloth that was to big at Target for my Christmas table (was the same price as the size I needed) and got four bonus cloth napkins for my efforts.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome ideas you've given me .
