Tool Time Tuesday...Pie, Paper, Plate Organizer

Say that 10 times fast. Ok, don't...I'm spitting all over my computer screen just saying the title out loud!

Do you have one of these plate holders or is it a pie rack/server? If you don't, I'm sure you've seen them in yard sales, consignments shops etc. Well, bring them out or go out and get one, because today we're using it for paper organizing.

I changed my sewing room/office around a bit. I'll show that in another post. My desk is a big butcher block table with only one little drawer for pens and pencils. So I needed vertical storage and this plate rack is the answer.

I used key rings and those little round tags to label what's on each shelf.

Why do I label everything...so my whole family knows where the white card stock is, not just me!

These are the three paper products I use the most at my desk, so that's why they get the extra special place. Everything else is in paper organizer case hidden under my desk.

I even have a label for my labels...Ok, that sounds crazy. Maybe I need to be medicated.

Easy access and pretty too.

Remember the Tool Time Motto...always think outside the box.

Look at something not for what it was MADE for...but what it could be USED for.

Oh, that's a good one. I just made that up. That needs to go on a button or something LOL!! I know...I'll go take my medicine!

Happy Tuesday to all my blogging friends,
~Karen~

  7. I just bought one of those at the thrift shop just last week....hubby said...where are you going to store it? Always wanted one for parties...now I can use it for storage and then empty it off once in a blue moon when I actually use it for its original purpose...thanks for the idea

  8. It is hard for me to tell the size of your rack but you are putting it to good use. Some of those racks are used to display pretty tea cups and saucers but yours looks like it is probably bigger.

  10. What I like about this is that depending on the way you attach the labels it's still completely friendly to take apart to have a party with.

  11. Another good idea from you. It is so nice not to have to rummage for things when you want something. I like organising things too but I don't have much space so I'm a frustrated organiser.

  16. That's a cute idea for one of those stands. I bought a different type a few years ago that has square wooden trays with handles that are probably about an inch or more deep. I keep paper napkins in the bottom tray and fresh fruit or bread in the top tier. It's great to have a two tiered storage bin that's attractive!

  19. Great idea and decorative too, I even have one of those. Now if I can figure out a place to put it, humm. I thought of you yesterday whan I emptied a spool of aurifil thread. I just know that something great could be made from that sturdy little orange dohickey. A ring holder maybe.

  20. I have a pie rack sitting in my kitchen. It has plastic fruit and veggies on each tier gathering dust. I have always wanted to do something else with it. What a great idea for my computer paper, etc! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

  21. Oh gosh! I have one of those and have never used it. What a fantastic idea! Mine only has 2 levels, but heck will work the same! Thanks!

  22. I love your creativity! I can't tell from your photos if you have a supporting square under the paper. I used to work in a print shop and suggest using cardboard or something to keep the paper really flat and to use open paper quickly. Moisture and any bend (like droopy corners) will make paper jams much more likely! Love your new sewing room, too!
