Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp air and the smell of apples and cinnamon. The girls came home this weekend, so I did a little decorating before they came. I cooked all their favorites, which included 2 apple pies. The house smelled so good.
For decorating, I have this large vase on the kitchen table.
I change what's in it each season.
For summer I place a candle in the center, then surrounded it with sea shells.

Very pretty at night.
This vase is so large, it would take a lot to fill it up.
So I put a smaller vase upside down, inside the larger vase.
Perfect spot to hold a candle.
Now to fill it up for fall...leaves are perfect.
I thought acorns, but they are way too small and would take a million.
Just slide off each section from the stem.
I snipped them in half.
Fast and easy and the whole bunch was only $3.00.
Love the colors!
Don't worry...I only light the candle when we are around.
Here are a few more ideas from around the house.
I love the idea of the hurricane lamp for seasonal decorating. It certainly does not seem like fall yet.
ReplyDeleteCan you please come to my house and decorate? I seem to get started 2 days before Halloween, and all I can think to do is place a few small pumpkins out...
ReplyDeleteI love that vase you have to change with the seasons! All the fall stuff looks great! Makes me want to do some fall decorating! :0)
ReplyDeleteI love fall for all the same reasons you do. :o) Your candle center piece looks so festive! :o) And you fall touches are beautiful! :o)
ReplyDeleteSincerely ~ Trish
Your decorating ideas are great Karen! You are certainly ready for fall.
ReplyDeleteI love your fall decorating Karen. What a neat way to display your sea shells. I have so many from our Florida trip. Thanks for the tip on that.
ReplyDeleteYou've put me in the mood to decorate. So far I put up a fall wreath on my front door and one in our foyer. That may be all I do, but after seeing your gorgeous creations, I am wanting more.
ReplyDeleteYou great job decorating Karen! I can smell the apple pies! :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the colors of Fall. Seeing your decorations has inspired me to start decorating my house. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season to decorate for too! My MIL gave me a footed punch bowl some years ago and I keep it on my sideboard filled with decorative things or potpourri. I like your idea of the candleholder and will definitely use that idea! Very pretty decorating you've done, Karen!
ReplyDeleteJust love your decorations...
ReplyDeleteI know you were so happy to have the girls home. Nice that they live close enough.
I used to have hurricane lamps, no idea what I did with them, guess they went when I decided colonial was not for me, duh.
ReplyDeleteI need to get more fall garlands, love putting them around the house, a quick and easy way to decorate.
Debbie
Looks like you're ready! I'd be happy if I just had the whole house clean all at one time, nevermind the decorations!

Beautiful...can you can and help me decorate too?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! If you ever change your mind about the acorns, I'll have a million in a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Karen!! Fall was the season I fell in love with in New England.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear the girls were home during the week end. I hope you all enjoyed it.

Since you finished your decorating, could you come and do mine?
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful Karen. I haven't done much inside yet...you have me inspired. Enjoy your visit. Patty
ReplyDeleteYour vase is very pretty Karen. I
ReplyDeletereally liked the sea shells since
I don't get to see them very often.
I too have been decorating. I painted my white pumpkin with black
chalkboard paint and wrote Happy Halloween on it and put a big crow
on top. I put it on a pedestal cake stand which sits on my vintage paper
cutter along with a black and white
photo of my grandchildren when they were babies dressed like pumpkins in their Great grandfather's wheelbarrel. Then I
wrote Boo with scrabble tiles next
to them. I have a crock with flowers in the center. I love to
decorate for Halloween because that
is my birthday.":O)
