Happy Tuesday everyone!! Today is a combo of Tool Time and Organizing and the "tools" to keep your life simple is in the office supply section.
We're using three ring binders and clear plastic sheet protectors to get our lives in order.
You can use this system in all aspects of your life...family, home, crafting etc. Being organized will keep you sane and it will free up time in your life. If things are easy to find, you won't be searching and searching for items and that means you'll have more time in your day to do something else.

Thrifty Thursday...Olive Oil Soap Dispenser
Hi everyone! Welcome to another Thrifty Thursday. I have a few thrifty finds today, but the main one is a liquid dish soap dispenser.
We had a recent kitchen remodel and the island is in the center of our home, open to every room. I've tried to find things to use around the sink that are "pretty" since the front door is not too far away and the kitchen is the first thing you see.
Here is the liquid soap dispenser. I found it in the kitchen section of Walmart for $4.00
It's an olive oil dispenser. It's a glass bottle with the dispensing tip.
My neurotic OCD goal would be to use up all the green, then the orange soap I have left and use a clear soap in this bottle. I know...crazy, but I guess it's all in the details Lol !!
It has a slower drizzle which I like...not too much soap all at once, especially with the soaps that are concentrated now. You don't need too much of it.
I think you can just buy the tip, so you can add it to any pretty bottle of your own. Maybe a wine bottle or something similar.
I also wanted to share the other thrifty finds in this picture.
The white porcelain cake plate was in the clearance rack of Marshall's / Home Goods for $6.00.
The lemons are the best deal for me!!! They're not real. I couldn't see myself buying real lemons all the time just for a decoration. I don't use lemons enough to justify buying them fresh and have them rot on the counter.
These lemons are from the Dollar Tree!! Well worth it, because they look so real...the texture on the skin and the color. Every single person who comes into the house thinks they're real.
The cake plate is one that you may have seen in stores. It comes with a ribbon that runs through the slots on the rim. I just took the ribbon out!
The white plant pot is from the thrift store or a consignment shop...can't remember. I do remember it was only $1.50.
It's plastic, but looks like porcelain. Never turn down something that's plastic...I go for the shape or style of the item.
Here is a Thrifting Tip...
When you're out thrifting at consignment shops or yard sales, have a list of things you need or want for your home or family...even the simplest of things like a pot for a plant. Have measurements, colors, sizes etc. Really helps when you come across that "great find" and you know it will be a perfect fit.
This list may not be a high priority list, but when you can get something for a $1.50 instead of paying full price...all the better.
Happy Thrifting,
~Karen~

Tool Time Tuesday...Easy Scrapbooking File Folder
Today's Tool Time is from the office supply store...an expandable file folder that I'm using for a "cheater" scrapbooking system.
First off, I'm hanging my head in shame for 2 reasons...
First off, I'm hanging my head in shame for 2 reasons...
- I need to go to "Savers Anonymous"...I save everything from every vacation, event, dance show, movie tickets, receipts etc. I won't even tell you about all the boxes in the attic with our two daughters' elementary school papers.
- I don't do anything with them, but store them. I have good intentions by organizing them in boxes, but to actually scrapbook them...not happening!! Lol
Here's my thought process. I love looking at old photos, books, receipts, menus, postcards etc from days gone by to see that a loaf of bread was 8 cents in 1930 or what something look like years ago. If I save little scraps of memories from our vacations or important moments in our life, my family will have something to look back on and say..."Remember when?"
In my defense, the reason why I don't scrapbook...I can not start another hobby. If I did, I would have to go to Scrapbookers Anonymous. That hobby looks way to addictive!! Lol
Here's my immediate solution...an expandable file folder

Hi everyone!! Today's blogging tip is how to blog from your smart phone with the Blogger app. I'm not 100% sure if the Blogger app is available for all smart phone, but this tutorial will be from my iPhone.
This app is great when you're out and about and want to share a post on your adventures. You might be on vacation, out with friends shopping at your favorite quilt shop, at a yummy restaurant and you want to share a post on your delicious dinner.
You also might be a your child's school play or dance recital and a few quick pictures from your cell phone can be in a post in no time!!
It so easy to do a post from your phone, so let's see how to do it!

2*10 Apron Tutorial...Very Easy
Back in the summer of 2010, I did a guest post on another blog sharing a tutorial for sewing an apron. I did the introductory post on my blog with a link to the tutorial. That post on the other blog is no longer available, so the link is broken. I've had a few requests in the comment section of my original post to re-post the apron instructions here on my own blog.
I didn't have the full tutorial, but I went back and found all the old pictures. I've written the new tutorial, so I wanted to share it with you today!!
I called the apron a 2*10 Apron. Why 2*10? Well, you only need 2 fat quarters and only takes 10 minutes to make!! Further down this post is another option for a 3*10 apron with a pocket.
It's reversible too!!
Here are the two fat quarters.
What's a Fat Quarter you ask? If you aren't familiar with the quilting term, you can click HERE.

Thirsty Thursday...Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
Hi everyone!! Thought I would switch it up a little to keep things new and different. Instead of Thrifty Thursday today, I'll be alternating it with Thirsty Thursday.
On Thirsty Thursday, I'll share some yummy drinks recipes that I have or one I have found along the way. I've already shared one recipe, but never thought to make a "day" of it! Remember the Pumpkin Smoothie?
Lately, I've been trying to eat healthier and exercise more. I make time in my day to go to the gym to walk or I walk outside every day. I've had a few minor health issues that brought to my attention that I'm not getting any younger and things I eat tend to "stick" now!! Lol I've seen some recipes on Pinterest for Avocado Smoothies, so I thought I would give it a try.
Today's recipe is my version an Chocolate Avocado Smoothie.
I know...avocado? Well, you don't taste it at all. It just gives it that creamy, smooth texture for the smoothie with all the nutrients and vitamins included!!

Tool Time Tuesday...Fun Pool Noodle Crafts
Welcome to another edition of Tool Time Tuesday. Today, I'll be showing you 3 projects I made with pool noodles. You know, those long styrofoam tubes that kids use to play and float with in the pool.
We went to the Dollar Tree this past weekend and I saw all the noodles in a box. My first thought...I don't have a pool, but I'm buying these for Tool Time. For one dollar? Who could resist.
I rounded the corner with 2 noodles in hand to find my husband and daughter wondering why the heck I was buying pool noodles. I told them I want to slice the noodles into segments and do a Tool Time with them. I thought pincushions and Kelsie and hubby both said "napkin rings"!!
Tah Dah...
This is such an easy product to work with...I'm sure there's more we can do with it. I have one more idea too.

Fabric Hoops Wall Decor...
Hi everyone! Today, I want to share a project with you that I saw on Pinterest. It was from the site Purl Bee. It uses wooden embroidery hoops for wall decor. When I first saw the idea, I already had some older hoops that I had been collecting and some from my mom, but the hunt was on. Every time I saw hoops in yard sales, thrift store or consignment shops I bought them!! They were inexpensive too...50 cents to $3.00 and some were $5.00 for a bag of them.
Here's the wall in my sewing room with all the hoops made with fabric I already had!!
You can make these too. They are very easy and fast to make up. Let me show you the quick steps...

Thrifty Thursday...Divided Food Containers To Organize More Than Food
Today's thrifty tip is to use all those plastic food containers that we have stored in the basement or waaayyy in the back of the kitchen cabinet. You know those divided plastic Tupperware containers that we only use for picnics and parties. Well, get them out!!
If you don't have any of these food organizers at home, I've seen them at thrift stores or yard sales cheap, cheap!!
I think people get rid of them, because they only use them once or twice a year.
Let's use them all year long in the kitchen and out!!
These food organizers are great for condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish, onions) for picnics, or ice cream party toppings, baked potato toppings, all the ingredients to make tacos etc.

Tool Time Tuesday...Funnel Scissor Holder
Hi everyone! Today's Tool Time is a quick fix for the "lost scissor syndrome". You know what that is, right? The constant search for your scissors under piles of fabric or somewhere near your sewing machine or underneath books and junk on your work table.
Well, here's an easy solution...an automotive funnel and it was only 97 cents!! I bought mine at Walmart in the automotive section.
This particular funnel is a long skinny funnel. Perfect for scissors!!

Hi everyone!! Today's blogging tip is about a gadget that's been around for a awhile, but I haven't used it in years. It's the Poll Gadget. Thought I would try it again and show you how to do it too!!
Here's what it looks like on my side bar.
This isn't the clickable poll, just a screen shot. To vote in the poll, just click on the actual poll on my right side bar.

Great Quilting Apps For Your Smart Phone...
Hi everyone! I was searching around the app store on my iPhone and found some great apps for quilting, so thought I would share them with you.
I have no affiliation with these apps. I just found them and think they're great.
I'm not sure if all apps are available for all smart phones, so maybe do a search in your app store on your phone and see what you can find too.
Let me show you each one individually...it will be the app followed by a screen shot of my phone and what the app looks like.
Oh, by the way...they're all FREE!!!

Thrifty Thursday...Recycle Juice Bottle to Vase
Here is an easy Thrifty Thursday...a plastic juice bottle spray painted on the outside and used as a vase!
This idea is great for school functions, church socials, quilt guild meetings, baby or bridal showers etc. Any function that needs multiple table decorations, but you don't want to spend a lot of money.
You can save any size juice bottle for your particular function. The bottles in the stores now have such pretty shapes. If you find one that you like, spread the word to friends and family to "start drinking" Lol

Kitchen Cupboard Organization...
We had our kitchen remodeled last month (before and after post with pictures soon) and I did a little organizing when we had to put the kitchen back together.
I wanted to share what I did in one of the cupboards that holds all those little things that might get lost in the shelves. I did have something similar in the past, but the boxes were smaller and I only used a few of them for gravy packets and such.

Tool Time Tuesday...What You Should Have in Your Toolbox
Hi everyone. What's today's Tool Time about?? Tools, tools and more tools!!
I've had some emails asking what types of tools would be good in a women's toolbox, so I wanted to share with you some of the tools I have in my sewing/craft room.
I love tools, I use them all the time and I have actually asked for them as gifts from my husband. Even if you don't do major work around your house, there are some basic tools that you should have.
Here is where I keep my tools now. This was an old shelf that I painted black.
Instead of having a tool box, this is like my "workbench". A girlie workbench!!
