Easter Ideas...

I can't believe Easter is next week, because it's snowing right now here in Rhode Island. Spring will get here soon...I hope!! I was looking through my previous posts on Easter projects and wanted to share them again for all my new readers who may have missed them.

My daughters Courtney and Kelsie are 23 and 22 years old and long past Easter egg hunts, but this first idea was very popular in our family. We always had a very large Easter Egg Hunts with at least 15 nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. The eggs were always filled with dollar bills (that my mom and dad supplied) and candy. To keep it fair and square, I color coded the eggs to match each child's Easter bucket so that they only looked for their colored egg. I used all the colors of the rainbow and then used polka dot, stripes, sports themed egg etc.

The little girl who had purple could only pick up purple eggs!!

No stress or tears from the little ones who couldn't keep up with the bigger kids.

Another Easter idea is too turn something drab into something fab!!! Here are some examples of what a difference a little spray paint makes.

Spray Painting Christmas Ornaments…Old to New

I know it's only the beginning of November, but I have been working on Christmas for the past few weeks. I have learned over the years that I need to do things early and not wait to the last minute. I decorate 12 trees for every room in the house and it's a labor of love.

I love using all my decorations over and over in different ways each year. If you use something in a new way or in a different room, it seems like you have a whole new look. I also like creating a new themed tree by using things I already have, but buy a few new things to add to it and make it spectacular!!

I've always wanted to have a red and aqua colored tree. I have a ton of different red ornaments, but no aqua, so here's what I've come up with! I already had that fabric too, so maybe a tree skirt will be in the making.

Spray Painting Before and Afters…Lots of Ideas

Hi everyone! I've been collecting a box full of things that needed to be spray painted to give them a whole new life. Some things we've had for years and others are newly purchased.

Courtney's Room..Spray Painting Ideas

Hi everyone. Today I want to share some spray painting ideas. I painted Courtney's room gray before Christmas and made the lined drapes with the duvet covers You can click HERE to see that post if you missed it.

This weekend, I'm trying to finish up a few more projects before Courtney graduates Saturday, May 18th and comes home. I have a few sewing projects left which I'll share with you this week too.

Here's the corner I worked on yesterday.  We had everything, just tweaked them with spray paint. (as a side note, the gray on the walls is all the same throughout the whole room...it just looks like 2 colors with the sunlight)

This is the before picture I found from Christmas 2011 of the pink paint. Great color when she was in middle school through high school, but the gray is much better for a 22 year old. Lol

I have a few painting ideas and one quick craft project for the cork board...so pop in for a visit.

Last Chocolate Spray Painting Project...I Promise

Takes 2 thin coats of paint. Just spray the front...

the back and then each side for total coverage. I sprayed 2 thin coats.

Great plastic eggs to hold treats...like money.

My 2 daughters in college love the money eggs!!

You can add candy too, but make sure the paint smell is completely gone.

Great for small toys and then package them in the egg carton.

You can also decorate with them too. A little nest with a confused chick..."did I come from a chocolate egg?"

Tool Time Tuesday...Spray Painting Easter Eggs

On Tuesdays, you'll always find something fun to make or some great "tool" to use. Well, today it's both. We will be spray painting Easter eggs with a great painting tool I've been using for a while. By the way, they are plastic Easter eggs, not the hard boiled kind!! Lol

Doesn't this egg look good enough to eat? Yummy chocolate? Nope...painted plastic Easter egg!

A jumbo plastic Easter egg from Walmart and my favorite paint...Krylon really sprays on nicely and looks great.

It's a big egg...great for decorating.

Here's the paint name. I've posted this color before for a bunny I painted. It's a satin finish.

OMG...it looks like it was just dipped in a chocolate fondue!!

These 2 part eggs are great for putting little gifties or treats in.

I realized the egg has little holes on the front and back. Not sure why, but I took advantage of the situation.

Ribbon!!

Thread the wired edge ribbon through the holes.

and tie into a cute little bow.

Now the arrangement is all decked out for the holiday.

Here's the tool I was talking about. It's a spray can nozzle with a trigger.

Slides over the top of the can.

When you pull the trigger, the mechanism inside pushes the spray button.

Really saves your fingers and no messy paint on them either.

Have fun painting your eggs. Just make sure you tell people it's not real or they may take a bite out of it!!

This would be great to paint all the little plastic eggs too and display them in a pretty bowl or Easter basket.
