Springtime, Easter, birthday parties or any party for that matter, pinwheels are the perfect decoration and oh so easy to make!!!
In just a matter of minutes, you can make these little cuties...
Pop in to see how easy...
All you need is pretty paper, straws and a hot glue gun.
I started with a 12x12 inch piece of scrapbook paper and cut it into 4 pieces at 6 inches square.
On the back side, find the center and make a dot.
Now start cutting in from each corner towards the center.
You must STOP about a 1/4 inch from the center dot.
Cut all 4 corners.
Take one corner point and bring it to the center dot and hot glue in place. Hot glue works best, because there is a very short drying time...only seconds. Regular white glue won't work for this.
Now SKIP the next corner point and glue the next one down as shown below and keep gluing every other point.
It should look like this.
Hot glue a cute straw to the back side as a handle.
The center needs a circle of contrasting paper or bead to hide the glue.
I hot glued on a button!
You're done!!!
The color options are endless...
I hope this projects adds a little whimsy to your next party!!
Thanks for stopping by,

Beautiful pictorial :-) Shows clearly how easy & Fun it all is !
ReplyDeleteInstead of gluing the straw, we used to poke a pin (or some such) through the paper & straw & then bend the pin down at the back. This would give the pin wheel enough play to rotate in the wind.
Cute pinwheels. Great tutorial to show how they are made. They are fun for cards, decorations on packages, tables, etc. I love them in different sizes.
ReplyDeleteBetter yet- use a pin to hold down the flaps and push it into a pencil eraser. That way it actually spins
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and fun idea, would be cute at a childs birthday party!
