If you take just a little time out of one of your days and tackle one area in your home, you will have "simple" in your life too. Being organized will free you up for so many others things in life too..family, friends, hobbies, time just for you.
Well, here's one more organizing tip to make your life simple...another name badge idea.
This is a coffee bar that I made out of an old desk and a recycled paint shelf from the basement.
It started out as my Baking Center. Held all my baking pans, recipes, baking goods etc...click HERE to see how I originally made this.
Then I switched out the hutch for a larger shelf and turned it into a coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar.
I used old boxes and metal electrical switch plates for the labels...click HERE to see that post for more.
Here it is today. Still a coffee bar, but more baskets.
Lots of different tastes in our house for teas and coffees...
So here's where I switched out the wooden boxes for baskets and used the name badge labels for organizing.
These are name badges. The clear plastic sleeves that hold your name card for work, conferences etc. You can buy them in any office supply. These are from Walmart..12 for $1.88.
I tied a label to each basket...and the sleeve holds the label or the item in each one.
Harry's favorite Keurig Coffee Pods...
My favorite Tea Bags...
My second favorite tea bags...
See how it just slips into the name badge.
Courtney's tea she bought in Japan last month...
Kelsie's favorite tea.
Courtland's favorite hot chocolate.
Sugar packets.
Name badges are so versatile. You can use them any where.
Click HERE for a post I did for other ideas...
Click HERE for the post for the "Baskets on the Stairs" idea...other options there too.
I also use the name badges in the medicine closet to separate everything...cold meds, Tylenol, bandages, each person's medicines, ointments etc. Click HERE for that post for more...
I never hear..."Mom, I can't find a band aide."
There are so many uses for these name badges...
- kid's room...toys, clothes, homework
- crafting
- sewing
- scrap booking
- office stuff
- food closets
- bathroom closet
- workbenches
- basements
- holiday stuff
You name it...you can put a name badge on it!!
Happy Organizing,
~Karen~
Another gold star for you, Karen!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your hot drinks bar!! It's so attractive and inviting. I do miss our tile floor every time I need to baste a quilt. Boy, that was handy - superb surface for taping and no marring from pinpricks or carpet getting stuck in pins, and very handy lines for squaring up. . . A wee bit jealous of your tile floor. ;D
ReplyDeleteThis idea is sure to make us put things where they belong. It reminds me of when my kids were little and we labeled the bins for their toys to get through to them that these things had a "home" and should be kept there when not in use.
ReplyDeleteI should reinstate this with a name tag on my dishwasher that says "Dirty Dishes". Think they would get the hint?
Oh to be so organized! I try to stay organized, but it does get away from me at times. You should see my sewing room right now! YIKES! Thanks for sharing these ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteYour coffee station encouraged me to make use of a dining room hutch that was just collecting 'things.' I dragged it into the kitchen and it's perfect for the Keurig and all that goes with it. It actually made a wall to create a pantry where we didn't have one before. I love it! Thanks for the inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I was looking for some waterproof labels so I could label stuff in my bathroom... Your idea will do just fine!
ReplyDeleteThank you,
I love your coffee station.... I would love to do one.
ReplyDeleteGenius as ever Karen! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for any area of the house. My studio is in dire need of organizing. I will definitely used this method for labeling
ReplyDeleteCute idea, Karen....I love neat, organized and easy to find!
