Do you remember my PB and J sandwich post from a while back? Well, the last sandwich I'll ever have to make for the brown paper lunch bag came and went and I didn't even realize it. I made her lunch Wednesday morning just like every other day...all knowing that the next day would be the last. On Thursday, Kelsie woke up and said she didn't need a lunch, because they were getting out early after the Graduation practice.
What? Wednesday's sandwich was the last?? Actually, I'm probably better off... no tears that way. Our baby girl will graduate tonight at 6:00 pm and the weather is perfect...sunny and 80*. A little hot, but better than rain!
Here she is leaving for school this morning's graduation practice, bright and early! Last day.
and here are Annie and Hallie watching her leave! Last day for them to watch her go out the door in the morning.
After the ceremony, the students are bused to an All Night Graduation Party. Parents raised $21,000 so the kids would have a safe place to celebrate after graduation. The facility has a big all you can eat luau, paint ball, bowling, swimming, a comedian, magician, carnival games, blow up moon bounces, basketball, fun obstacle courses, crazy balloon man etc...

Everyone stays up all night and are bused back home at 6:00 am. My husband and I are part of the chaperon group, so please wish us luck with 150-200 kids!! I've already started drinking iced coffee to get my caffeine fix.

I'll let you know how it goes on Saturday...if I don't sleep the day away!

The tears are just on the edge. This is the sweetest post. The memory of fixing the last lunch, and being chaperones at Project Graduation.... precious memories to me. My sweet girl is now 34 and my sweet baby boy is now 31. Time goes so fast. Enjoy every day. Thanks for bringing that memory to me today.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you are participating in a SAFE Grad...young adults(kids actually) are going to party and that is the best way. Hope it turns out to be a great, fun , happy and SAFE night.
ReplyDeleteBeen there with the tears...my babies are 37 and 35...oh how the time goes.
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel like yesterday when you were packing your daughter her first lunch? Ahhhh yes, I remember it well. Time goes by way too quickly and they grow up and are gone before you know it!! Savour the grad party...it will be on your 'remember when' list..I know it's on mine!! Have fun!

Ooohh...I just got home from a 5th grade graduation party in the park. It was teary and fun all at the same time...thanks for sharing your thoughts about your daughter's graduation.
ReplyDeleteMy son is a sophomore in high school and I pack him and a pb&j sandwich every day too....so I understand exactly what you're saying. Congratulations to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your beautiful daughter. When one stage in life ends, another begins. You have college, marriage and grandbabies to look forward to in the future.
ReplyDeletecongratulations to your daughter! Project Graduation is a great program! I own a pizza restaurant and donate 40 large pizzas every year for our local lock in!
ReplyDeleteHappy graduation to all of you! It feels like my daughter just graduated from high school, but that was already two years ago! Just remember, we are NOT getting older; we are getting better! Best wishes to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post...kinda made me sad...but all good things just keep getting better. You have a lovely daughter and best wishes to her.

Bittersweet, but you did good!! Our HS graduated tonight too. They also have an all night party, but the senior's parents don't chaperone, the undergrad parents do. My hubby is there right now. He has the 8:30 - 12:30 shift. They have a ton of things just like your daughter will be having too. They call it "The Substance Free Graduation Party". All the students take a pledge and it is a safe place for them to be. Congrats to you all!
ReplyDeleteAwww Karen, such a big change... but wow what fun day for Kelsie and an exciting time for her! I would have been crying over the 'last day of sandwich making' too! Happy sad happy times xxxx
ReplyDeleteTake care sweetheart, and I hope you have a good sleep when you get the chance! And what a beautiful girl Kelsie is! She's a stunner!
Hugs in abundance!

ReplyDeletehow brave are you being a chaperone and having to stay up all night long!!!!!
congrats!!!!!
Kathie
Oh the memories. We did the project graduation with 849 kids...Wheewww. The parents of the Junior class chaperone the seniors graduating. That way the senior parents can be worry free and go home and collapse.
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely. You should be so proud. sniff sniff...circle of life.
Pat
wait till you go through a wedding!
Congrats to you and your daughter! I was a little teary when I read your post. I have a Little Person and it will be many more years before we reach that milestone, but the thought of it just melted my heart. Time flies by.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all of the special moments for this occassion!
BTW-drink more caffeine ;)
Enjoy every precious minute - it goes too fast.
ReplyDeleteI love the canning jar post (just read it, I have been out of touch for several weeks). My niece was just here with an 8 month old and I saved all the "plastic baby food containers" to see what I could do with them.
Hugs - Marie
I honestly think it's so neat that you always fixed a bag lunch for your children!! Too many kids nowadays eat just junk food from the vending machines or pizza and french fries DAILY in the cafeteria!! What LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteThe years are gone before you know it. Congrats to Kelsie on her graduation.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to celebrate for the kids and love how it is safe. I don't envy you, I would be asleep at the table by 12, lol.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Enjoy every minute of it, I just watched my last of 8 children graduate. Now its marriages, babbies, Army boot camp (x2 so far) and more memories than this old head can keep. Remember the small things, write them down for her she will soon forget as life takes her by the arm. Good luck with staying up all night, I couldn't do it. LOL
