This time I wanted to do something a little different. Kelsie loves her chocolate and Oreos are high up on the list of favorite cookies, so I made her a chocolate covered Oreo Bouquet.
Come in to see the steps to make your own…
Things you'll need...
- cookies, any will work, but I used Oreos
- long lollipop sticks (found in the candy making section of any craft store)
- chocolate melts (I already had the white chocolate melting chips, but colored candy would be cute for the flowers too)
- microwave safe dish to melt chocolate
Use a small microwave safe dish to melt the chocolate, so when you dip the cookies the chocolate is deep and covers the cookies better.
I heated the chocolate 30 seconds at a time until melted.
Take one cookie…
separate the 2 parts (eat the cookies that don't open up nicely)
Take the end of the lollipop stick and carve a little groove in the center of the creamy filling.
You need this space for the stick to rest in or all the cookie tops will crack.
Dip the end of the stick in the melted chocolate.
Then place the stick in the groove.
I add a little more chocolate to make sure the top cookie really sticks together and sandwiches the stick in there.
Place top cookie on.
Perfect! Oreo, creamy middle and chocolate!!
Line a cookie sheet with parchment or waxed paper and line up all your assembled cookies.
Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens, about 15 minutes or so.
Now take each cookie pop and dip it in the melted chocolate.
Make sure it's well coated on all sides.
Return the pop to the cookie sheet. Dip all your cookies and refrigerate again until chocolate hardens.
I had little candy bags that I used to cover the cookies, but little sandwich baggies would work too.
Bag each cookie and add a curly ribbon if you'd like.
I bought these polka dot silk daisies at Michael's craft store for only 99 cents each. They are so cute and come in lots of colors.
Arrange the flowers and cookie pops into a bouquet. I used floral wire to secure all the stems, then I added a big bow.
I pulled out the curly ribbons in between the flowers to add a fun texture.
Just tuck all the cookies in and around the flowers.
Best tasting flower bouquet ever!!!
Kelsie loved her bouquet! Her performance was amazing. She make me cry every time she dances. Here we are right before we left the studio late last night to battle the worst winter winds ever and 12 degree temps. Where is spring?
Thanks for stopping by,
