Chalkboard Fabric Napkin Rings and Place Cards...

A few months ago, I shared a post about on how to make your own framed chalkboard with chalkboard fabric. You can click HERE if you missed that post. Well, I had some fabric left over and have a few projects in the works to share with you over the next few weeks.

First project today is Chalkboard Napkin Rings!

I bought the chalkboard fabric at Joann's. I think it's $4.99 a yard, but I always use a coupon (I think it's on sale now too!!)

The fabric comes with directions on how to "prime" it. You have to rub chalk all over it first before you actually write on it. I showed the "how to" in the previous post I linked to earlier.

I used a label stencil for different shapes, but you can cut any style or check online for free printable label shapes.

Just trace your shape.

This cuts easily with scissors…like buttah! Lol

Now gather ribbon or cording. Isn't that red gingham ribbon cute for a picnic. It has ants on it!

Here are the shapes I'll use today to show you different ways to use the ribbon.

On the back, I drew lines to makes slits in one and holes in the other.

chalkboard napkin rings

The slits would cut with tiny scissors, but I used an x-acto knife and a ruler.

chalkboard napkin rings

Just slide your ribbon through one opening, behind the label and up through the other side.

Pull ribbon through to the desired length.

Tie it as loose or as tight as you'd like.

Write the name on each chalkboard to double as a place card and napkin ring.

For the other shape, I used a hole punch.

The hole punch actually works great on the fabric.

I recycled this cording from the handle of a gift bag that had seen better days.

Pull cord up from the back on both sides, adjust the size and knot off.

So cute!

You can use any shape label or ribbon to hold the napkin…these are just a two examples.

Here is a picture of the backs of the finished napkin rings.

These are perfect for any occasion and you can also make them for gift giving. The fabric is so inexpensive, you can make a ton of them cheap.

Have fun making them!!!
