Spool of Thread Key Chain...

Hi everyone. I was going through some of my mom's sewing supplies the other day looking for thread. I found an old wooden spool that still had the 15 cent label on it. I thought it was so cute, I had to make something with it. I remembered a post I did 5 years ago with a spool of thread and an eye bolt. I made a necklace to hold your spool of thread while hand sewing.

This time I just wanted to use the spool for a decorative key chain…nice memory of my mom.

All you need is…

• a spool of thread
• an eye bolt with the matching nut that fits the length of your spool
• and a key ring

Sometimes when you buy the eye bolts they don't come with the nut, so make sure you check your package. They are really cheap too…50 cents to $1.00 depending on the length.

Just slip the bolt into the hole in the spool.

See the 15 cents? So cute!!

Then screw on the nut.

Open up the key ring and attach it to the loop in the eye bolt.

Perfect key ring…especially if you want to distinguish that certain key on the key rack.

You can also use it for other things too…like attaching small scissors to the spool.

The spool marks the scissors that they are for sewing only, that they are your scissors during a sewing class or you can actually sew with the thread and the scissors.
