Kitchen Cupboard Organization...

We had our kitchen remodeled last month (before and after post with pictures soon) and I did a little organizing when we had to put the kitchen back together.

I wanted to share what I did in one of the cupboards that holds all those little things that might get lost in the shelves. I did have something similar in the past, but the boxes were smaller and I only used a few of them for gravy packets and such.

Then I found these boxes at the Christmas Tree Shop...a discount store for just about anything. This is the medium square box. The boxes in my kitchen are the small rectangle boxes

kitchen organization

They were only $1.00.  I have seen these at The Dollar Tree Stores too.

kitchen organization

The boxes are fabric and come in 2 parts.

kitchen organization

The box unfolds and then there is a sturdy bottom liner.

The handles are already on the boxes, so I just added a white card stock label that I cut with a die cutter and attached it with a small key ring from the office supply section of any store.

kitchen organization

Here's the breakdown, so you can image what you might put in your boxes.

GRAVY...

kitchen organization

All those gravy and soup mix packets that get lost in the shuffle.

kitchen organization

JUICE...

kitchen organization

Those little tiny juice packets that you add to your water bottles are easy to get to now instead of going into the small boxes to get them. This also contains all the juice mixes in one place.

kitchen organization

JELL-O...

kitchen organization

Easy to find these small boxes now and to see the flavors too .

kitchen organization

CUPCAKES...for all those different sizes and colors of cupcake paper liners.

kitchen organization

SPRINKLES...for me this is the place for anything cake decorating...sprinkles, food coloring, tubes for frosting etc.

kitchen organization

BAKING...this is baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder etc.

kitchen organization

INSTANT...I use instant coffee for some recipes and my kids have the instant packets that had from school. Now we love our Kuerig, but we still have a lot of instant to get through!

kitchen organization

PERK...bags of coffee I use in the BIG perk machines for parties and family get togethers.

kitchen organization

For ingredients that come in bags, I also use large canning jars with plastic lids to keep things fresh, easy to use and easy to see.

kitchen organization

These plastic lids are great instead of using the 2 part metal ring lids.

kitchen organization

You can buy these plastic lids wherever canning supplies are sold. I bought mine in Walmart for about $2.00 - $3.00 for a box of 8 lids.

kitchen organization

You can use any style or size box that fits your needs and your kitchen cupboard, but I do recommend organizing things into categories. It will make your life so much easier.

Not to mention, you will be able to see what you have at a glance and you won't be buying another can of baking powder when you already had 3 in the back of the cupboard.

Happy Organizing,
~Karen~

  2. Great ideas, Karen. I sort mine into small plastic bins but I like this idea better. It looks much neater. I will have to see if I can find similar sizes at the stores here. I use mason jars for our spices, but the one cup and half cup sizes and have them on a 3 level shelf organizer. We use big glass jars in the counters for baking stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. Wow what a great idea. I have never seen this boxes at our Dollar Tree. The only place I find them is at Target, and they are $$$$. I have also never seen the plastic lids for canning jars. And I do go down the aisle that carries canning supplies !!?!?!

  6. Adorable!! I saw on another blog a similar idea but she could only find the fabric boxes in a color she didn't like so she spray painted them black. They looked terrific in the picture. I'll have to go check out what my Dollar Tree has at their store.

  7. I have learned something here. I didn't know about the screw cap lids for the canning jars. Great idea because I use the jars for my layered salads for my lunches and the metal lids rust.
I have also used these types of boxes in my closet drawers for underwear, socks, bras etc.

  10. Ahem, it wasn't baking powder it was baking soda and chili powder. But the great thing about the chili powder was I could sprinkle that around and on my sunflowers and the raccoons gave them wide berth.

  16. Ideas for room organization embrace victimization drawer organizers that square measure compartmentalized or maybe expandable to suit a large form of drawer sizes.

  18. You are a girl after my own heart. I love this idea. I loathe my kitchen cabinets since I have so much baking stuff and it is always so hard to find stuff. Not anymore thanks to you! Will be doing this for sure.

  19. I am inspired to make labels for the fabric bins in my living room (they have toys in them). Seeing how nice your labels look motivate me to go ahead and do it. I am thinking about making them picture labels as my 3-year old cannot read.
I want to organize my pantry like this but will be moving in June. Part of me doesn't want to invest in getting this pantry just right and then have to change it up. But, I can see how your pantry organization is portable.
Do you have ideas on refrigerator organization?

  21. I honestly did not know that plastic lids were available for canning jars. I must get some of those. I can never find both parts of the metal ones! Thanks for the tips!
