Hi everyone!! A few weeks ago, I shared a waiting room I decorated for the dental office I work in. Click HERE to see that post. Well, I wanted to share the second waiting room I did for our new office. I had so much fun doing both...different styles in each office, because of the style and ages of the buildings.
Here is the before of the room...
and here's the after...
View from inside the room.
This is the same wall on the right above.
Leather club chairs from Target just like the other office.
Dining room chairs from Marshall's.
Table from TJ Maxx and lamps from Marshall's $30 with the shades!!
Little desk from Ikea and thrift store chair. Rug is from Target...I think $80
The windows in this older home are just beautiful. They were hidden behind vertical blinds. The wood trim, crown molding and details are the reason for the different feel than the other office.
This is the kid's corner.
All the accessories are from Marshall's. The wire baskets were all different colors, so I spray painted them a galvanized metal. Aren't the little club chairs so cute.
All the lamps from Marshall's have pretty burlap fabric shades. Love them!!
Great new chandelier to replace an ugly round ball light. This is from Home Depot $80. Just need to turn the seams on the shades, now that I look at it!!
I have a tutorial for these lined drapes coming up.
Double rods and for drapes and sheers. Sheers are from Ikea...$5.00 for a pair!!
Fabric is from Joann's. Needed the coupon, but it came to about $22.00 per yard. I was sick cutting it! LOL
Lined drapes were easier than I thought.
Hope you enjoyed the tour.
I know this is a waiting room, but maybe you can use some of these ideas in your own home.
Have a great day,
~Karen~
Outstanding job!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Love the classic upgrade. Much comfier and relaxing. I would love to see a little table to sit at in a waiting room....and the little kids area - LOVE!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!!! I'd Love to spend some waiting Time here...
ReplyDeletei absolutely love this! it is so professional, but definitely warm and filled with things i would want in our home.

ReplyDeleteThey are vert lucky to have their own interior designer!

ReplyDeleteWell Done it's Beautiful
Cheers
I'm speechless! What a transformation. It looks so inviting and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteNicely done. You are so talented. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat is a step WAY above any waiting room I sit in... and without breaking the bank... great job!
ReplyDeleteKaren, wow!!! You did a fabulous job! Want to come decorate my house?? I'm working with a decorator now, and it's expensive! I like your style! Joann's used to let us print coupons online, but I'm not sure they do anymore. They do have a way to download the coupon to your smartphone though. Just hand them the phone and you get the savings!
ReplyDeleteKaren, what lovely warm inviting room.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, you did a wonderful job, your boss must be thrilled. You should be a professional designer, your THAT good. What a difference before and after, it doesn't even look like the same room. Thanks for letting us peek! ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the lined curtain tutorial! I want to make some for our home. Karen, you are amazing and give me hope in my own abilities.
ReplyDeleteThis room is fantastic. And those little kid chairs are adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job. This could be used in a den or family room. I am about to make lined drapes for my daughter's dining room. Not hard at all. Yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing! Your work ifs MAGNIFICENT... what a great place to wait to see the dentist! So glad you included us in the tour! Kathi
ReplyDeleteOh WOW... what a fantastic difference. The new room is so much more welcoming. You did a great job transforming the waiting room. I love the children's corner!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job. Everything looks well thought-out, and done on a budget makes it even better.
ReplyDeleteThe room looks beautiful! Can't wait for the lined drape tutorial as I need to make some for my living room...
ReplyDeleteLOVE how the room turned out! I wouldn't even mind going to the dentist now, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteAmazing as always!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding job. Really, really awesome. I had to LOL when I first saw the front windows "unveiled" (before the comment about them). All I could think is "How could anyone hide those beautiful windows behind that white stuff?" LOL
ReplyDeleteLike I said before, you could always start a career in interior decorating if you ever give up your dentistry job!!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous!
Tanya
Both those waiting rooms are wonderful, you have a whole other career option going or should I say several career options. Web master, decorator, inventor, designer, etc. the list of your talents is endless!
ReplyDeleteI know this is where you work...but you don't know how many waiting rooms I have sat in and thought...I wish I could make this room over....it wouldn't take that much money or work to make it look so much better.
ReplyDeleteYou have just shown how with a little bit of money and sewing one can make a room look so much more inviting. Great job!
Judy
Lovely! I'm gathering ideas!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on both! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow you are so talented! Wanna come do my house?! :D
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your patients really appreciate the change. Almost makes we want to go to the dentist. Alllllmost... I could never pull off black or leather at my house -- white cats, with claws!
ReplyDeleteDoes that room have space for an ottoman (or ottomans), or a coffee table? Maybe those ottoman cubes with flip-over tops that they have at Target & Crate & Barrel? I'd love to be able to put my feet up in a waiting room. My legs are short & I'm never comfy in waiting room chairs. I'd be much more relaxed while waiting if my feet could be up, even a few inches.
Beautiful job, Karen!
ReplyDeleteOMG Karen. You should be an interior decorator!!! What a beautiful room.
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job!!! Impressive. Sylvia
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow!!! What a difference! I work in dentistry as well, and honestly I'd have been depressed everytime I had to go call someone back from that old reception area. Truly! I love this room
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful transformation. I know that I would feel very comfortable and welcome in a space like this waiting for my Dr. You are very talented :)
ReplyDeleteI was just going to read your post from my email feed then saw the photos of your delightful work. It makes such a difference to be in lovingly decorated surroundings.
ReplyDeleteYou need to come to Qld, Australia to sort a few of the dreadful waiting rooms I see.xxoo
Wow, wow, wow!!! Such an improvement. Waiting rooms are the first impression clients have of an office, and that redone waiting room exudes professionalism, comfort, and class. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Did you use the same grey in this waiting room as the other? I just love the color. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteBoth rooms look great and far more relaxing in the after pics. You've taken away the 'clinical' look which for many patients is what makes them nervous. My dentist waiting room leaves a lot to be desired, very streamlined and clinical! Job well done :0)
ReplyDeletePeg xx
Man that is nice and SO simple!
ReplyDeleteYour makeover in the waiting room is great!! wish you lived closer and could come over to help me "makeover" some rooms at my house. I'm no good at thinking of what looks good. I'm a good help at the sewing part if only someone would do the designing for me.!!
ReplyDeleteKaren this is another beautiful room. Your employer must be thrilled! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThe before and after is amazing! What a huge difference!! You have such talent! Very nice work!
ReplyDeleteInspiring!! I love DIY and this has given me some inspiration... beautiful!
