I would like to thank everyone who entered this give away. I never expected such a response. I will definitely be doing this again soon. I just love meeting such wonderful people and visiting such inspiring blogs. It took me a while to figure out all the entries...so without further ado...the winner is

Thanks to everyone again for all the comments, they really lifted my spirits this week. We just dropped off our oldest daughter at college this weekend. It's a feeling I can't even begin to describe. I think I will keep myself busy these next few months with quilting and blogging. My husband came home tonight with a present to cheer me up...a new DVD player for my sewing room (I gave Courtney mine for her dorm room) and the 8th season of the Walton's. If you haven't read the Walton's post, here's a link. It just explains that I am a Walton's nerd, but proud of it!!

Have a great week,

  1. Hi Karen,
I have 3 daughters and the first two car pooled their way to University. (a 45 min drive one way) When the third one joined them at University they all decided to move into an apartment together. We went from having a houseful to having no one! I didn't stop crying for a month. Believe me I KNOW what you are going through. Keep busy, and if possible meet her for lunch every Saturday. That is what we did. Every Saturday I would drive down and we would spent the morning shopping, going to the beach, the museum, a chick flick, Garage Saling whatever and then lunch and then I would go home. I'm so glad I did this as they are all finished with University now and they now live in different cities and I only get to see them a couple of times a year....so I am sure glad I was a part of their University lives. So hang in there....and keep busy....start a quilt!
    Take care! Paulette

  2. Hi Karen :-)

It must be so difficult when your children leave home. I live in Australia and when my son has travelled back to England to stay with family (for five weeks each time) it was very difficult. I found that by making something for him, I felt closer to him and like I was still being useful... and it kept me occupied.

    Warm wishes for you. xx

I have posted about the travel caddy I made, inspired by your tutorial. Thank you for the wonderful idea. I have credited it to you of course!!!

    Kind regards, Vikki x

  7. We just bought the first season of The Waltons and it has become our Sunday night ritual. We are also working our way through all the old Perry Masons and Leave it to Beavers. Kind of comforting to watch those old shows, isn't it?

    Congratulations to Carol!

  12. Been there, done that 4 times now. It gets easier.....really.

And no, watching the Walton's isn't nerdy. If it was, there would be more nerdies than not. I was in the middle of season 5 when my sewing room was snatched out from under me (DD#2 had to move back home and took over her former bedroom which was more recently my sewing room). I can't get tv time on the living room tv long enough to watch any more episodes. For some reason, no one will watch it with me! Can you believe that?

  13. Thank you so much Karen, such a wonderful happy surprise. I love Thimbleberries fabric. I guess it's hard to let your little birdie's leave the nest. I think quilting will definitely help you get through. Start a Christmas quilt for your daughter, just a thought.
