Graduation Tassel Ornament...

Hi everyone! It's that time of year again...graduation time. Whether it's high school graduation, college graduation or even your little kindergartner's special moment, it's a memorable time for everyone! Let's capture those memories in a little ornament that you can bring out each year at Christmas time.

I started making these ornaments 2 years ago when our daughter Courtney graduated from Roger Williams University here in Rhode Island and then continued making them when our daughter Kelsie graduated the following year from the same school. I loved them so much, I dug through memory boxes and pulled out their high school tassels and all the tassels from both my husband and myself. Our tree is now dotted with wonderful memories of the past.

Here is the picture from the original post. I wanted to share this again, especially this time of year, so you can make them too!!

  2. Hi Karen,
This is a great idea! I have been filling those clear ornaments with shredded forms from work and giving them to co-workers who were retiring (they don't ever have to fill them out again!). They are always a big hit. Now I have another use for the ornaments for graduations. Love them! Thanks for the tutorial.

  4. Love, Love , LOVE this! So much better than hanging on a picture frame or packing away in a box somewhere. I have several from my 20 somethings kids, I may even write their name and school on the ornament with a dimensional craft paint. I'll be back after I sort through some stuff to find those tassels...umm, I may be awhile. Warm Hugs,

  6. I tried making one of these last year and after broken ornament #3 I gave up. I cannot get the year to fit in to the top and I don't want to have to go with a plastic one. Need to find ornaments with larger tops I think.
