Thoughts on Thursday...

We have one dog...an 11 year old yellow lab. Sweet as pie and we love her to pieces. Her name is Annie and sometimes we call her Fee...long story, but she answers to it too.

Then we have Hallie...a 5 year old tortoiseshell cat. Sweet as pie only when she wants to be and that's not very often. We call her Hallie Potter when she's nice or the devil when she's not.

Why are cats like that?

Any animals for you?

Happy Thursday,
~Karen~

  2. Yep, we have cats. Currently 2, and they are always quite sweet and show their affection often. Actually all the cats we have ever had have been that way. Grew up with a dog and a cat. I guess I have always been a pet person.

  3. We have two miniature long-haired doxies. Weasley is an 8 year old male who is as sweet as sweet can be. We also have a 3 year old female named Snickerdoodle who has enough energy for four dogs. As long as someone is throwing a ball for her she is in heaven. She is my shadow :)

  4. We have a Sheltie who is a constant source of amusement!

  5. One sweet, sweet five year old dog, who eats the tootise rolls out of the litter box. Two devil cats who love to be loved when they want to be. Which isn't often. Cats are weird.

  6. 5 pugs, Pickle, Petunia (Tunie), Pebbles, Bamm Bamm and Sister Mary Rose. I was breeding Pickle and Petunia and kept two of their babies, Pebbles is Pickles daughter from his other wife, Pugs can have more than 1 wife. But now the factory is closed as she would not tell him no and the diaper didn't work, neither did the doggy playpen. So we closed the factory as much as I love to have puppies and that I usually have a waiting list of people who want one.

But where would we be without our fur children?

BTW the picture is Sister Mary Rose when she was a puppy and still sweet, she is rotten now, lol

  7. Cats are persnickety in general. However, all mine win the course of my life, with the exception of one, were sweet loving cats. I think it all depends upon their personality.

I currently have two. Chessie, our elderly 14 year old and Gracie, our tripod. Both are sweet loving indoor only cats.

When we get a home of our own, we plan to adopt a dog as Dan is a dog person.

  8. Oh too cute your pet names :) I don't currently have a pet but I have had my eye on a Green Cheeks conure (its a parrot type of bird, just incase you were wondering). He costs $200 so I don't see my husband going for it :( I want to call this little guy Mr. Green Cheeks. He literally waves at me when I visit him at the pet store. hahaha

  9. Two chocolate labs that are father and son (4 yrs old and 2-1/2) and a cat that sounds like the same color as yours named Tinker (13 years old). Tinker is friendly when she wants but has an evil twin more often than not. She and the dogs don't see eye to eye so she lives upstairs and they live down.

  10. We have two beautiful dogs. Sandy is a 5 year old Lhaso Apso and Minus is a 4 year old Saint Bernard. Our 13lbs little dog contols the house at all times including out 175lbs St Bernard.

  11. We have two dogs who we call "the kids". Technically they are a poodle-something mix (10 lbs, fluffy and white) and a beautiful Golden Retriever (about 60 lbs). When people ask what they are, we answer spoiled and more spoiled. The kids go everywhere with us and get away with a lot more mischief then our two-legged children ever got away with.

  12. No cats but two sweet little 7 year old tzu shu puppy girls that we love to death. We got them when our children hit 'double digits' and I needed babies. They are wonderful!

  13. Eddie Izzard told a story about a pet owner trying out new food with his dog and cat. The dog ate it so quickly and gratefully that he hardly tasted it. The cat gestured towards the food saying "and this is ...????"

  16. Hi Karen,
Your blog is one of my VERY favorites! I have four dogs for the time being. We have an 11 year old black lab named Rocky (but he also answers to DA (Dumb Ass). That dog has a big heart but a small brain. Then I have 3 huskies. Apache who is huge and beautiful with blue eyes but sadly we will have to put him down very soon, he has nasal cancer and we are just waiting for the right sign that it is time ;-( then there is Noelle and Ryder. Huskies are my most favorite dog in the world. I Love my dogs!

  17. two best friend cats who are opposites of each other. The 17 lb male is called Rugger, but my husband has nicknamed him Tiny. The small female is Sam, but my husband calls her Mr. Big.

  18. We have a 5-1/2 year old sweetie-pie named Lilly, a cream-colored Pekingese. She's definitely our baby and is a little princess (really, she won "Prom Queen" at her day camp - the whole thing is pretty hysterical. Her date was Bob.)

  19. We've been married a long time, and are on dogs #9 & 10. Both are Cairn Terriers, both rescues, they are Dudley, 12, a goofy lovable boy, and Lizzie, 14, whose nickname is Killer!

  20. I have three twenty-something red-eared turtles, and a sweet cat who is not mine but has somehow adopted me. He spends his entire days lounging in our backyard and waits for me when I come back from work. I think he's been abandonned and so we named him Gazou and bought him cat food. He's a nice friend to have around.

  21. have you heard the saying "Dogs come with they're called. Cats make you leave a message and get back to you when they're ready." ? So appropriate! We had two Siamese cats, one lived 17 years and one lived 18 years. We also had a Springer Spaniel, Molly, who only lived 7 months. Then we got another Springer, Daisy, who lived 11 years. We had a conure which is a small parrot, who lived not nearly as long as he should have because we weren't aware of digestion issues they are prone to, and we had a love bird, Lucy, for a long time. Then there were the gerbils and varieties of fish for many years. But now we are pet free and I'm very happy about that!

  22. Bryn and Maui adopted us as a 2Fur from the SPCA almost 5 years ago. Bryn is a darling, totally loveable 6 yr old yellow lab who's only goals in life are to be with one of us and fill her tummy. Maui (named after our favorite island) is a 5yr/2month old short haired cat who has her own ideas about how she wants this household to behave.

  23. Right now we have 4 dogs: Rookie (lab/border collie mix), Rally (twin to that white terrier on the Travelers Insurance commercial..and SMART. OMGoodness!), Buddy (scottish terrier/something mix. We got him when Rookie went missing for 4 months. 4 days after we got him, we got a call that someone found a stray, and did we want him back! Now THAT was a silly question!), and last but not least Chewbacca (Chewie for short) is our grand-dog. Our DD is deployed to the Middle East , so he is a dog camp at Mimi's house. Oh..and the 19 yr old Tortie, Rags. Poor baby..she just does not know what to do with 4 dogs. I think she is feeling her age. This many animals has cured me from looking at petfinder.com! lolol

  24. My sweet dog passed away...she was my best friend and I have not had the courage to look for another...we lost our cats a few years back they were brother and siter...died within months of each other they were 18...I loved them all...but there's something special about a dog!

  25. We also have had both. Some smart - some not, some sweet - some definitely not in both categories. Cats are so much more independent! Dogs are so much more needy. We have loved them all, some more than others, & many of them grew up together. One of our dogs, a stray pup whose owner didn't want him, thought he was a cat! Too funny until he tried to help give the kittens a bath after he had his! lol

  26. We have 2 dogs. Charlie is a 6yo Bichon and Maddie is a 3mo Black Lab. Sweet Stuart had to be put down 2 weeks ago due to Manx syndrome. I'm missing him.

  29. We have a mixed-breed dog who's mostly Australian shepherd who is a sweet girl. She was a stray but we believe she's around 3. Also a senior kitty who's trying my patience these days...her majesty is pooping every place but her litter box. Took her to the vet when this first started and they found nothing amiss. I keep telling her she's not helping her species out since Himself says that I'm never bringing another cat indoors.

  30. We have 4 cats, all British Shorthairs. 2 x 2 brothers. The oldest 2 just turned 9, the young ones are 6,5 years old. They are my children, because we can't have human childeren.... Love m to bits, but sometimes send them upstairs when they are very naugty and playing on my nerves.... They all have real Dutch boy-names. Arie, Bram, Cees and Dirk. don't think you can get it out of your mouth (LOL) Live is just to dull without our animals, don't you think???

  32. We have a 14 year old Seal Point Siamese. Molly. She thinks I am her mother. She sits on my lap. Not my husbands, or any one elses. She sleeps beside me, on the edge of the bed. Will not sleep near my husband. She will curl up with her head on my breast, and put her paw on my chin. But she will also put her paw on my mouth if I open it to speak to her. Guess she wants quiet time. LOL

  35. Cats have temperaments and personalities so finding the all loving ones is a tricky thing. I learned to love them as is. I have 5 outside cats. My favorites are the talkative ones, JoeJoe and Attaboy. But Momma (hissy fit girl)Smokey and Mystery have my heart too.

  36. We have 2 mixed dogs...2 from the same litter...1 looks like a black lab and the sister is a black lab/smallroddy mix...the father was a black lab that we had earlier...they love to try to be lap dogs...They are outdoor dogs and are great guard dogs...the names are Casa and Two-Tone...We also have 2 cats, Mittens is about 13 and She Devil is about 5-6 yrs younger...Mittens is fixed and mostly lays around the house or goes outside and suns herself...She devil has a complex partly our fault as when he was first brought home he was only 5 weeks old...his sack had not dropped for some time so we believed him to be a she...both come when we call them, or the can lid is popped...Mittens is a lap cat for my husband...when ever he is sitting on the couch or my daughter is Mittens is right there in their lap...In the winter time when Mittens wants to get warm can be found sleeping on me...She devil pretty much goes where he wants...What fun they can be..

  38. We have 2 Dachchund Puppies that are 1 yr old. The female is a long-hair named Molly who is sweet like your cat (when she chooses to be) and the male is Tucker a smooth coat who is sweet most of the time. They are brother & sister and act like their human counterparts.

  39. Love my fur children! Currently we have 2 boxers, Major a 2 yr old rescue. He is the biggest one we have ever had (7 boxers in 42yr of marriage) he currently weighs 105lb and an old soul, very loving. Dyna, is 5yrs, a grandaughter, to my beloved Snickers. She is very devoted to my husband. Both are couch potatoes, love kids and are very loyal. Boxers have short life spans, but we love their personalities. Life would be lonely without them.

  40. Our house is crazy. We have 4 dogs. 2 of which belong to my son and his fiance. We also have 3 cats. I know. I said we were crazy. The cats leave everyone alone. They want nothing to do with us.

  41. We have a 5 year old Rat Terrier named Little Bit who is the sweetest dog I've ever known. Besides jumping up and down and wiggling her little stump of a tail, she even "smiles" to let us know how happy she is to see us - literally when she sees us she bares all her teeth, but in such a nice way you know she's smiling. I have tried to get a picture of her doing this but it happens so quickly it's almost impossible to catch. I have 2 grown sons, but she is truly the BEST "kid" I ever had. I sincerely hopes she outlives me because I don't know what I'd do without her. She is truly a JOY!

  42. We have the sweetest 1 year old cat named Scoobie! I am partially disabled and stay at home and she is the greatest little companion! She is such a love sponge! lol !

  43. No animals here....we did have cats and dogs while the kids were little. Our last cat lived 15yr. and after that I said no more. When we lost him it was too hard and I couldn't look for another.

  44. We have a black lab who plays dumber than he really is just for the laughs. We used to have the most wonderful, personality-filled cat, but I think coyotes got him one night. I loved that cat. Everyone who knew him said he was their favorite cat. He was extremely affectionate, came when you called him, playful even at age 12, and very sweet. Kind of like a dog, actually!

  45. Hero is our dog. He is 2.5 years old and a really great dog. I love Cesar Millan (Nat Geo's the Dog Whisperer) and have used many of his techniques to shape Hero to be such a good animal.
