Battening Down The Hatches...

Prayers for everyone along the east coast the next few days. Irene is fast approaching. We live along the coast of southern Rhode Island, about 6 miles from the beach. This is a nasty one.

I hope to do a few posts today and tomorrow to go up this weekend and next week, but I know we'll lose power on this one.

As they have been saying on the news..."prepare for the worst, but hope for the best"

Say a little prayer for everyone,
~Karen~

Went for a walk on the beach this morning with my husband...calm before the storm.

  2. Prayers for you all. He rides the winds our Lord does. I lived threw many when I was a young girl in Florida, and I always held on to that truth. It helped me to hold on. God's eternal peace to you and yours.

  3. Glad you are preparing for the storm and to be safe from it. Like Barb, I LOVE the beach too. How delightful you are where you can take beach walks whenever you desire. No matter where we live there is something we have to deal with, weatherwise, at some point. Pryaing Irene loses her steam and heads away from land.

  6. Stay safe and let it blow. The rain is not the worse part of a hurricane but the reversing winds are. Just think of the treasures that will be on the beach after the storm. Oh and remember the second half is worse than the first.

  10. Oh, please stay safe. Do you need to evacuate? Prayers for all folks out east. I know how it is as we have family in Louisiana and near the gulf. Hope you won't be without power long, if at all.

  14. Be safe! I've lived through hurricanes of my youth in RI (Newport) and many in Florida
(W.Palm Beach) in later years. Be prepared to lose power for 2-7 days or more! Let us know how things went in your neck of the woods.

  15. Of course our prayers are with you and everyone there. Be safe, turn everything off, use surge protectors, wear a pithe helmet. I have no idea, we don't get hurricanes here so just do what you're supposed to do and let us know you're ok as soon as you can.

  17. Wow Karen! I had no idea you were in RI, nor so close to the beach. You will no doubt be pounded. I have been praying for others in Irene's path, and you will be too. May God bless and keep you safe. Linda, who's glad to be in Iowa right now!

  29. It's strange for us in Florida to be watching everyone on the east coast go through this. Our thoughts are with everyone in Irene's path. Keep safe.

  31. Stay safe.I am hoping your area doesn't get to much of the storm.
The area in Virginia where I live had an earthquake last week. Really unusual.

  33. I've been watching the news reports regarding Irene. Even though I live on the west coast, I have a niece living in New Jersey who I am concerned for. So far, Irene seems to be weakening some and perhaps, by the time it reaches you, it will have lost most of it strength and turned out to sea. Stay safe.

  47. We live at a beach about 45 miles from where the eye of Cyclone Yasi crossed the coast in Queensland, Australia a few months ago. We had to evacuate because of the threat of a storm surge, but we were very fortunate that our beach was not flooded. The only damage to our house was to the TV antenna and our gates were blown off their hinges. Quite amazing considering the strength of the winds (about 160 miles (250 km)per hour. We lost power for 6 days, water for 3 days and phone for almost a week. Take all the necessary precautions and I am sure you and your loved ones will be safe. Praying for you all.
