Thoughts on Thursdays...

Ok...by the toilet paper controversy from last Thursday, I see you like the question of "this or that". Maybe I should call it "This or That Thursday", so here it is...

Your hobby time...do you do your best work in the morning or at night or any time you can get it?

I'm a night!

Happy this or that,
~Karen~

  1. Morning, preferably early, before the distractions of the day get in my way.

  2. DEFINATELY AT THE CRACK OF STUPID,(typically anytime after 3am) It is amazing what you can accomplish while most are still warm and cozy in their beds. Heck the birds are still fluttering in their nest when I pull the first thread through my fabric.
    Be always in stitches

  3. Toilet paper: OVER!!!!!!
And I am a night person, no doubt. The problem is that I have to be up by 6am during the week, so I have to "pretend" that I am a morning person. It doesn´t work! I surf the net during day time and work at night, when I can!!! 8-)) !!!!!!!!!

  4. I work better at night...

  5. TP: over :-

I love to sew all morning in my PJS, when I get the chance!
I sewed at night more in my younger days......sigh....

  6. I wish I was a morning person...I would get way more done...but alas I usually get more done after dinner...

  7. The older I get, the more I become a morning person. Better light!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Whenever I can get it done...usually during naptimes!

  9. Mornings only. I get up at 2:00 am so by 2:00 pm, I'm dead in the water. If it's not done by noon, it ain't gettin done.

  10. Maybe not in the morning necessarily - gotta get those chores done and workout, etc. - but definitely in the light of day. After dark I just wanta cuddle with DH and watch a movie.

  11. Anytime I can get it, I usually will plan an all day thing, yeah I read the 10-15 minutes to sew, but after 15-15 min the creative juices have just begun to flow. My mother and I sew together and there have been many times that we would be up until 1 am, realize the time and say ok let me get to this point and we'll stop only to stop at 3 am or later....

My biggest pet peeve is when life or work gets in the way of quilting, lol. But no work no money for fabric, so its an evil necessity.

    That's my 2 cents.

  12. Definitely Morning! I'm an early riser, 4:30 am, so that's when I have the most energy, juices are flowing for creativity, and the kids are still asleep.

  13. I get up between 3:30 and 4 am to sew BEFORE getting ready for work. I think best in the morning and make far fewer mistakes than if I sew at night.

  14. Morning. If I have a whole day to accomplish something and I haven't started by 10am, my chances of actually doing it get smaller and smaller.

  15. The light of day is best for me, although I have one of thoshe head lights on a stretchy band that you get at Orange or Blue in case I want to sew at night. ;)

Regarding TP: if my family could figure out how to actually put it on the dispenser, I would be happy - over or under...

  16. I work full-time so I only get time at night, and def. not every night. So I guess I work better at night?

... on the weekends I like to start early tho, work from 7-10 or 11am, then take a nap after finishing a cute small project :) That's the best.

  17. Actually, I'm best in the middle of the day. So, neither (morning or night)! Ha! Yes, I'm strange.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Morning...I'm definitely a morning person! Plus, it's to dark for me to work at night in the winter time!

  19. I am a morning accomplisher, but will take it whenever I can get it.

  20. I work best after I am well rested.. before my mind is clutterd up with all of the thoughts of the day.. so I best get started early. I even work and clean better right when I wake up.. the longer the day goes.. the lower my energy meter is reading.. and boom off to bed I go!

  21. i tend to do it in the evening but...................saying that i have just been cutting out a bag and it is just after 2 pm here :))

    ReplyDelete
  22. Night time. I have trouble getting up to go to work, so there ends up being no time to do any sewing before work.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mostly early mornings while I'm having my coffee. If I don't get my fix of crafting and coffee before I have to leave for work I get grumpy. I will work other times as well, but early morning is my favorite...me time.

  24. mornings...definitely. After about 6pm, I start to slow down...unless I get some caffiene. Around 9pm...I would need to use toothpicks to keep my eyelids open! =P

  25. Depends on what I'm doing! In the mornings my eyesight is better so I tend to do handwork then. I also like to cut fabric when the light is strong in my sewing area--it is very dark in there in the afternoons. But, I can easily stay up late piecing, pinning or planning :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Morning...the older I get the more light I need...although I must say...I pretty much work all day long and hand sew at night while watching TV...oh the life of a stay at home wife!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Night time is for me...peaceful and all the days work is behind me...just time to relax.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Naptime is my magic time! Nothing gets done whiile the kiddos are awake. I suppose magic time would include after they go to bed as well.

  29. I seem to be a night time sewer. But I like sewing in the morning, when I get up early.

  30. I prefer the morning bz I'm more creative then but I'll take it anytime I can get it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, definitely night time! I work full time, and anything crafty or sewing I do in the evenings. It's my ME time, my quiet time!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm a night hobbier too! I like to stay up really late - but the hubby gets cranky pants so I am trying to train myself to be a not so late girl.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I prefer mornings but I'll take whenever I can get.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do my best work in the evenings.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Usually night, I got used to that when the kids were little. Now the kids are gone & I'm an insomniac, so I go with it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anytime I can get, which isn't often enough.
Over! My dh does it under and it drives me nuts

    ReplyDelete
  37. I prefer mornings/daytime because of the natural light and that I'm rested... by night, I'm usually tired and tend to make more mistakes... but do sew in the evenings if there is a deadline approaching.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Whenever I can get it...but when I have the option I'm definitely a night person, especially when everyone else has already gone to bed and I'm the only one up to work on whatever I want.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Absolutely night! And if it's a weekend....then I'm sewing or creating right through til dawn! We can always sleep later! lol

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am not a morning person at all, so afternoon and evenings are my best production times.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'd love to have a single time to do my crafting! I work (most days) from 0630 (when it starts, not when I leave for work) until sometimes 1830 or later. Crafting is whenever I can. Whenever that may be.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anytime I can get time is good for me! Generally I prefer to spend my entire evening stitching, but sometimes I am soooo tired, or there are still things on my list that have to be done. When that seems to be happening a lot I have a tendency to do what I call 'front loading my butt time'... meaning I make myself sit and stitch for an hour in the morning! Otherwise I get cranky.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Actually, I am more of a mid-day kinda girl. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Night! definitely night time! Especially if the Mr is away for work, then it doesn't matter if I'm sewing at 1am :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm another mid day type of person. I like to do my chores in the morning and then start crafting right after lunch. After dinner I like to do hand work like embroidery or knitting. That way I can hang with the family watching movies and still get some work done. Movies and hexies go good together.

I can do crafting all the time.

  49. Karen when our kids were little I would stay up til 3a.m. and then get up at 5a.m. and start my day.
Now I still get up at 5a.m. but I sew in the morning or any time I can. Times change when kids grow up and grandchildren come in and out.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Any time I can, oh, and I prefer the t.p. Over, I'll even change it/correct it if it's under, lol
    :-}pokey

  51. Anytime of the day suits me fine since I am sewing for a living :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Morning and afternoon for me because my sewing room is filled with natural light then. By evening there are too many shadows in the room, I'm tired and distracted and make more mistakes. That's when I pour myself a glass of wine, grab a good book, and try to stay out of trouble!

  53. Night time, definitely night, late night to be exact. Usually get a second wind around 10pm. If I didn't have a full time day job to maintain, I'd prolly up be all night most of the time.

Have a great night, do something crafty!

  54. I love that time in the morning after the dogs & cats have been fed. Everyone is off to work, the house is quiet. I drink my coffee, looking at all the wonderful blogs. Then my creativity has kicked in and it's FUN time.

  55. Morning! I'm definitely a lark!!

  56. used to be a night-hawk, but .... since i've married a whatever-you-call-a-day-person, it's mid-day to not-so-late ... LOL ... my wish is night, but ... i love the hubs and i'll take what i can get; you know, he does support my fabric addiction ... LOL darlene

  57. well I do abit of both I sleep about 5 hours a night so its late nights and early mornings for me

    ReplyDelete
  58. TP: under.

I tend to sew from mid-morning until 5 or 6, just prior to dinner. I also spend most evenings with DH, he watches TV and I am on the computer.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's a toss up between late at night and whenever I can get something done....love your blog btw!

    ReplyDelete
  60. T.P.=over. I have been guilty of changing it in places if it is under too. I am so bad.
I am a weekend person! I hardly feel motivated to do anything crafty Mon-Thu because I work FT and get up early (and have a 50 min drive to work!)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, night. It's rare that I can get into the sewing closet before noon, and for some reason what I do in the afternoons seems to take 10 times longer than I expect. So I end up sewing late into the night just to be able to feel like I have finished (or nearly finished) something.
