Appetizer Recipe…BLT Cups

Appetizers…they are my all time favorite food group. I could eat appetizers all day everyday, even over desserts.  I just love anything savory or salty! Here is a great appetizer recipe that is not only delicious, but easy and so quick to put together.

BLT Cups…

Pre-made fillo (or phyllo) shells and pre-cooked bacon are the keys to this quick and easy recipe!

Here's all you need…no set amounts, just mix together enough for the number of shells you need and how you like your BLTs.

  • cooked bacon, crumbled and chopped fine
  • chopped lettuce
  • chopped tomatoes
  • mayonnaise
  • mini fillo (or phyllo) cups or shells...found in frozen food section
  • salt and pepper to taste

The mini fillo shells are little cups of yumminess that come in a package of 15. They are usually 2 packages for $3.00…more or less depending on your store.

They are already baked for you, so you can just defrost them and eat them just like this. You can also fill them with something sweet for a quick dessert.

I've served them right out of the package and I've also heated them at 350 degrees for about 5-7 minutes to have the contrast of the warm shell and the cold BLT. It's totally up to you. Directions to heat are on the package.

I use the already cooked bacon. It is so fast and easy. All you do is place the strips on a plate with a paper towel and heat for 5-10 seconds depending on the number of slices.

It is so easy to use, but don't look at the "price per pound" on the store label. I know I am definitely paying for convenience and it's so worth it.

I have used regular bacon and cooked it the day before a big party and had it crumbled and ready to go the day of. That's great for large parties when you need a lot of bacon.

Just chopped the bacon, lettuce and tomato finely, so you can taste all the little bites in one cup.

Add mayo, salt and pepper to taste and mix well.

Fill all the cups and serve. Try not to make these to far ahead are the cups will get soggy.

They are delicious!!
