Recycled Keurig K-cups and Holder...

We've had our Keurig coffee machine for years now and love it. It's fast, easy and you can always find a sale on the k-cups. Today, I wanted to share another idea for using or recycling the k-cups. I did an Easter post on them a few years ago. You can click HERE to see that.

Here are some ideas for not only the k-cups, but one for the carousel holder as well.

Come on in and see…

This is the holder that my daughter Kelsie bought for us one Christmas.

Holds 27 cups!

We used it for a long time until I put the coffee bar together. Now we store all the cups in one of the black storage bins. We sometimes buy the k-cups at the larger wholesale stores.

Here are some of the used cups plucked from the garbage.

The machine pokes a hole in the top…

Then one hole in the bottom. The water flows through and perks the best coffee in just a minute!!

Normally you would throw these cups out, but if you peel off the foil on the top, it shows the used coffee grounds.

Throw the grounds away and you can see the little filter.

The filter will just pull right off. Wash it out and that leaves you with the perfect little storage cup!

Now fill up the holder with your empty k-cups and you are good to go for a versatile storage carousel.

Perfect for…

Jewelry Holder : earrings, necklaces, beaded bracelets etc.

Hair accessories : bobby pins, elastics, clips

Sewing supplies : pins, needles, safety pins etc.

Beading or jewelry making supplies.

Other ideas you could use this for…

  • scrapbooking supplies
  • office supplies
  • hardware items…screws, nails, tacks etc
  • store your different buttons

You can change it up to fit your hobby or needs.

I already had the carousel, but if you don't have one, I've seen them in thrift stores and consignment shops.

If you don't have a Keurig to save the cups, ask family, friends or any even some businesses serve the coffee for free in their waiting rooms!

If you want a cute Easter craft for other recycled k-cups, click HERE for that post

Thanks for stopping by,
~Karen~

  1. One more suggestion, compost the coffee grounds! Another thought can you feed peerless cotton thru the hole? It would be a way to keep it from rolling away. I don't have one but friends who do recycle the plastic.

  2. I first peel back the top, take our the coffee grounds and save them to put around plants is the garden--tomatoes, peppers and roses like coffee grounds. Then I save the little cups to start seedlings in.

  4. the holder will also house craft paint bottles. I did find that the holder (at least the first ones made) are not all that well made. I had one of the circles to actually fall off, I took it back.

  5. This is a great idea. Thanx.
Now how about a very easy tutorial on how to fix my blog problem? I really like your turorials and they have help me tremendously. I pressed on a button somewhere and lost my previous pictures, all but one post.

  6. What a great idea Karen! Thanks! I just got myself a personal Keurig a few months ago and now i'll start saving the cups and try to put them to good use for something. I don't have a carousel but i'll figure something out!
    Have a great day!!

  7. If you have the Keurig Vue there is a little coffee pod and the foil is attached to it and pods are little bigger. You have some good ideas I might have to try them out.
