Easy No Sew Fabric Envelope Tutorial…Perfect for Valentine's Day

Hi everyone. I wanted to share a quick and easy project for a no sew fabric envelope. These little cuties are great for any occasion, but I was thinking it would be perfect this month for Valentine's Day. All you need to do is switch up your fabric design or color for each holiday.

Heart Fabric envelope…

Add a little love note and maybe a chocolate treat!

Come in and see how easy…

I made this fabric envelope yesterday when my friend Tina from Seaside Stitches came over for a day of sewing. We had lots of fun catching up, cutting fabric and having lunch with my daughter Courtney. Tina used the clam shell fabric die cutter and cut her whole box of scraps. She left some fabulous fabric for me to cut more hexagons too! I'll share them in another post when I finish. Thanks Tina for a great day.

For the fabric envelope, you will need two pieces of fabric, a piece of iron on fusible web ( I use Heat and Bond) and any envelope you have to open up for a template.

Heat and Bond has paper on one side and the fusible web on the other. You iron it on the wrong side of the fabric, peel off the paper, then place the wrong side of the other fabric on top and iron again. The Heat and Bond fuses the two fabrics together.

Take any envelope shape you'd like.

and open up all the flaps for the template.

Iron on the Heat and Bond to the wrong side of one of your fabrics, following the package directions for times.

Let cool for a minute or so.

Peel off paper and the clear fusible web will be on the back of the fabric.

Now lay the second fabric (right side up) on top of the Heat and Bond and iron to fuse the fabrics together.

Pin your envelope template to the fabric.

Cut out.

With the template still pinned to the fabric, fold all the flaps back in place using the existing fold lines on the envelope.

To seal the side flaps to the bottom flap, I was going to use hot glue, but sometimes the raised bead of hot glue shows through fabric. I decided to use Elmer's glue.

Tina had the best tip to set the glue faster.

Set it with an iron!! I put paper between the layers, so the glue wouldn't bleed through.  Great tip Tina!

Little dots of velcro worked on the main flap to open and close the envelope.

I cut mine in half to fit.

Hot glue a cute heart button and you're done!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

  5. This is such a great idea and can be used as a special way to give a hand delivered thank you/payment (like for the organist or officiant at a wedding?) instead of a plain old envelope.

  8. Great idea, I wanted to make some mini ones, so need a template that I can shrink to the size I need.
Need to go through my things, might have a mini one that came with a gift.
