The new pegboard is for my paper punches...
See how easy it is to make one for yourself.
You can buy peg board in pre-cut smaller pieces at the hardware store. It doesn't need to be framed, but if you do want it framed, Home Depot will cut it to the size you need for your frame.
For the first holding system, I used a piece of 1/2 inch wide PVC plastic pipe.
Cut the pipe to fit the length of your pegboard. It cuts easily with a saw.
Then drill small holes in each end, through the width of the pipe.
You will need several of these pegboard hooks...2 for the PVC.
Attach the "U" shaped hooks in the board, then zip tie the pipe (through the holes) to the hook on each end.
Using the "U" shaped hooks prevents the rod from slipping off.
That's it...that parts done.
The PVC rod works great for the large platform type paper punches.
The base sit up against the back and the top handle sits on the PVC pipe.
Here it is close up.
The other type of paper punch is the squeeze type.
This is where you will use the other "U" shaped hooks.
Each handle will slip into the hooks.
If you can't find the "U" shaped hooks, single longer hooks mounted next to each other works too.
Then there are the smaller paper punches...
"U" shaped hooks again!!
Regular hooks work great for all the small hole punches.
There are a million uses for peg boards, but I hope this one keeps your paper punches organized and easy to see.
I think if we "see" things and keep them organized, we'll use them more often.
Here's another idea that a blogging friend, Robyn, sent me...awesome idea to use Ikea towel bars to hold her much larger paper punch collection! Wow...I love it.
Thanks Robyn!
Happy organizing!
I hope you have a great day,
~Karen~
Ya know, those u hooks lok a lot like some shower clips my daughter had. Also, hair ties work to hold things on pegboard to, as do golf pencils as pegs (thin ones not easily found).

ReplyDeleteYour Tool Time Tuesdays are always great. I agree that when we have things organized where we can see them it's easier to use them. Now that I'm retired and can leave my sewing machine out I definitely sew more often. Now, where ARE my paper punches. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really love this idea! Thanks for sharing this with us. I have been looking for ways to hold my punches. My current system is in a plastic shoe rack that goes on the back of my door but I have too many punches(mainly Martha Stewart's all around the page) that I want to find a way to store just those and this seems like the way to go. So thanks again!

Love this idea!!! I always look forward to your posts. Was just thinking, I have a ba-zillion white curtain/cafe rods in the attic that I could use in place of the PVD pipe since they have the holes in the end for hanging onto brackets. This might be my weekend project, just have to find some peg board!
