Thrifty Thursday...Ribbon Storage

Summer time means fresh fruit and veggies...strawberries, blueberries and grape tomatoes. If you buy those things, you have these plastic containers...

I know you can't save them all, but why not save a few to organize and store your spools of ribbon!!

The strawberry containers are the perfect fit for spools of ribbon.

At the bottom, they have slots for ventilation so the fruit won't become soggy.

The spools fit in the box...

The cover closes to keep them clean...

and the ribbon comes out the openings on the bottom for easy access.

Just pull out the desired length of ribbon through the slot and cut!!

Great thrifty recycling trick to store ribbon, string or even yarn for projects.

For knitting...

A small skein of yarn fits in a blueberry container. Perfect to pull the yarn through the slot and your little furry kitty friends can't get to it.

    What a cool idea! I use the plastic container that 4 lbs of plums come in (Costco) to hold fat quarters of coordinating colors for future quilting projects. I just grab one and I'm ready to go!

    What a great idea.I save shoe boxes and clean, reusable gallon size zip locks to store quilt pieces (squares, triangles, etc,) that I have precut.I like to reuse.

    Very clever! I use one of those funky pants hangers that hold 4-5 pairs of pants with the swing open arms. But I like this idea since it somewhat keeps out the dust. Thanks!

    What a great idea. I've seen ribbon stored on rods, etc. but never liked the 'collecting dust' idea as I don't use it often. But these will keep it clean and they are stackable! I use the bigger plastic containers that mixed greens or spinach sometimes come in to store doo dads, craft items, fabric pieces...the list could go on....they're a nice size and totable.

    I have been using these to store my projects that are cut out and have not sown them yet. Just seeing thouse the box but still covered from the dust helps me know all the time what projects are still in the works.
