Blogging Plans For 2013...

2012 will being coming to a close in just a little bit and we will be ringing in 2013!! We all have plans for the New Year and for the months ahead...

It might be a small project like cleaning out a closet or organizing your whole basement. You might want to learn how to sew or make your first quilt. The new year will definitely bring change in so many ways, so let's make it a positive change.

I have a few plans for Sew Many Ways in 2013. I want to start a monthly series for organizing one aspect of our homes each month. I want to start to quilt again, so I'm thinking a Block of The Month Club. If we all sew together, maybe I can finish a quilt with you!! I also have ideas for more Blogging Tips for you.

I have other ideas too, but I want to hear from YOU!! What would you like to see on Sew Many Ways in 2013? Is there anything special you want me to cover on my blog in the sewing, blogging, organizing area or any other area?

I'd love to read your ideas in the comment section.

Thank you to everyone who made 2012 so special for me. I loved all your comments, ideas and emails.  I loved meeting new friends from all over the world and hope 2013 brings more of the same!!

Big Hugs and Thanks,
~Karen~

  1. Totally love the Block of the Month club idea. I'm almost complete with two different quilts and I feel like I would complete both of those and an additional quilt with some motivation :)

  2. I love all your projects, and projects from other blogs, too. And I'd love to try them, but get stuck on exactly what I need to do them with. It's usually the paint that stop me. I never know what the heck I'm supposed to have. Enamel, flat, primer, spray can, ugh! It stops me dead in my tracks! Sometimes, bloggers have said, "I just used the leftover paint from a previous project...." but they don't say what it is! I'm such a novice at paint projects, and it's pretty pricey, so I don't want to get the wrong stuff. What do you use, for example, to get your big furniture pieces that beautiful black? Enamel? Flat? Latex? Did you prime? Did you sand? With what? What grade? I would love to see the 'nitty-gritty' info on painting stuff. Thanks a bunch! And I love the ideas you have listed, too! Oh boy! 2013 is going to be fun fun fun! :o)

  3. The BOM sounds like a good idea, Karen. Be sure to keep up with the Tool Time Tuesday, please. That's important! Sorry, I don't have any original ideas for you, but you never have a shortage of them! A happy new year to you and your family.

  8. Oh Karen, I hope you keep up Tool Time Tuessay. And I'd LOVE a BOM!!! I'd participate immediately. Blogging tips/tricks - I think so many of us need them. For example: Maybe how to reduce photo pixel size to upload photos easier (both on Mac and PC), how to actually make some "fun" posts with "characters" on our blogs.

Sorry to go on and on. I'm back into blogging after have taken a little over a year off for health reasos and SEW much has changed. I'm been trying to "learn" all over again.

Please stop by for a visit anytime. I have ALWAYS loved your blog, your Tool Time, and your help.

I say "THANK YOU" for all that you share.

    Hugs

  13. Organizing room by room would be a terrific addition to your blog. I also enjoy the Tool Time Tuesday and hope it remains. I enjoy your home decor posts too. It's easy to walk past the same ole stuff arranged the same old way and stop looking at it. Ideas for using what we have and rearranging would be useful to all your readers (I think).
Perhaps I'll join you with a scrappy version of the BOM. I'm on a mini break from sewing/quilting b/c of the holidays and have been taming my scraps instead. They're getting cut into useable pieces and sorted by value.

  14. Looking forward to it Karen. I joined your blog in 2012, but am now just starting to get into it. Thanks for sharing all your organizing tips! Happy New Year!

  15. Hi Karen, I found your blog this morning and so glad I did! I love to thrift, craft, shop consignment stores and etc! But I never learned out to sew and it's something I have always wanted to do! My sister bought me a sewing machine for my 40th birthday 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to get going with it. I googled ideas for rearranging my craft room and found you! Can't wait to look around some more! :)

  16. A BOM sounds like good idea. It seems to be the only way I get anything done. I'm really looking forward to your ideas on organization too. I need lots of help there.

  17. I love tool time tuesdays and thrift thursdays. I would like to see a BOM too. I would love to see a BOM using an ombre style or something with with scraps! I really love vintage style aprons and I would like to see a tutorial for one. Maybe a quilted vintage style because you know the ladies back then would have used what they had to create something useful and amazing.

  18. It could be fun to do a very small project each month, maybe paired with a recipe. For example, a mug rug or place mat coupled by a muffin recipe or maybe a soup or stew.

  20. I am enjoying following your blog. I am already started at going through every room, purging as I go. Tips are very helpful as I luv the nicely organized look. Like you I want to get back to making quilts but perhaps smaller projects like cushions and place mats will be better for my whole house redo! Thanks

  23. Hi! I think these are great ideas! I like the idea of a BOM finishing weekend or such once a month. I really enjoy your tool time tuesdays. I would appreciate some blogging tips as well, like numbering comments and making pictures smaller so we will not be charged for picture overage!
All you do is great in my books!
    Happy 2013!
    Take care, Leslie

  24. LOVE the monthly organization plan... I will be tuning in for sure! I just made a "Project Whole House Organization" New Year's Resolution, so your timing is perfect!

Also, I just recently started my own blog and have been visiting your "Blogging Tips" page FREQUENTLY! So, I am looking forward to more tips! One thing I might suggest is that, Blogger's look/format has changed since some of your tips, so the step by step instructions aren't very helpful on some of them. It may be a pain in the butt for you, but maybe you could update some of those.

LOVE your blog! Keep up the great work! Yours in the one blog I follow "religiously" ;)

  25. Karen, We had an engagement on Christmas! I"m getting a new DIL for 2013! My house is going to be my project, and since I"m a FlyLady fan, I will be setting my timer DAILY. Spot by spot, room by room. I will be the mother of the groom so probably not ALOT of stuff happening at my house. Just the fact that it will be organized will help the stress level!I will be stocking up on black garbage bags and a trip to GoodWill to DONATE , weekly, will be on my schedule. I have tons of ideas for scrappy quilts...so maybe I will work on scrappies and UFOS too. Happy New Year...and THANKS for your blog!

I think I originally found your blog due to one of your organizational posts; I'm always interested in new ideas for organizing spaces. So even though I don't have specific ideas for your blog, I'm interested in everything you are planning.

  40. I'd love to participate in a quilt along! I'd like to see it sooner than a Block of the Month, maybe every two weeks? Something bright and cheerful, I've been collecting FQ of brights.

I originally found you by a Pin on organization, so keep the new ideas coming. We are going to tear apart the master bedroom this March, so I welcome lots of ideas. Both on decor and organizing.

    Thanks for your lovely blog!

  44. I discovered your blog sometime in 2012. I am an apparel teacher in a large urban high school. My best friend and cohort in design teaches at the same school - she teaches housing and interiors. Around Thanksgiving, I got the crazy idea that we needed to blog about our design adventures, both professional and personal. Now I am the person who can barely download pics to my computer so help was needed! My daughter helped me set up a site with blogspot. There is so much for me to learn but it will be good brain exercise. Will attempt to link to your party if I ever get all of the Christmas decorations put away. There are plenty of sites with ideas for elementary teachers but can't find ones for high school. So that is much of what will be included in our posts. I so enjoy your blog and the many ideas and tips. Check out rdpolkadotapron.blogspot.com. Happy New Year!
