It's October already...can't believe how fast the time goes.
Autumn is my favorite season. Cool crisp air, apple picking, warm cider, the crunch of leaves under your feet, apple pie, pumpkins, warm fuzzy sweaters...
We have so many wonderful memories from this time of year...glad our daughters are coming home from college for the long holiday weekend.
I think we have Clyde's Cider Mill on the "to do" list. Ahhh...apple cider donuts. Nothing better. Well, "warm" apple cider donuts are way better!!
How about you? Do you have any autumn traditions in your family?
Happy Thoughts this Thursday,
~Karen~

There's something about pumpkins and cornstalks that gives me nice, warm fall memories. Have fun at the Cider Mill.
ReplyDeleteI rew up in Michigan, and the highlight of every autumn was going to Yates Cider Mill for fresh cider and hot donuts.
ReplyDeleteFall brings Pumpkin and Red Velvet donuts from the Apple House here in Front Royal Viginia. And an added plus Cream Cheese icing for these - YUMMMM
ReplyDeleteFall...temperatures only in the 70's in the morning and no more 100 degree days! That is fall in Arizona. Miss the leaves changing a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love Autumn. This is our first year living in Washington State. I planned a short excursion to Mount Ranier for this weekend. I may switch it out to Mount St. Helens. I want to see the mountains in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend with a travel blog. She's based out of Norwich. I need to send her to Clyde's to do a story!
Barn Dance! My parents have a big barn where we all meet to have chili, potluck, desserts, dancing, pingpong, tractor train rides. Kids of all ages love to gather - my siblings, in-laws, neices and nephews, friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
ReplyDeleteWe always went picking apples with the kids. Still laugh over the funny things that happened on the hayride. Last year we included my daughter's boyfriend. He is from the UK and had never gone apple picking!
ReplyDeleteLiving in Florida takes away from the seasons, and especially Fall. I really, really miss the apple orchards, and that free paper cup full of fresh apple cider. It's been 23 years, but I can still close my eyes and smell those fresh apples, the homemade jams and jellies, and that cider. Yum.
ReplyDeleteWe always go for a long dirve during peak color season here in NW PA. I was able to get a few pictures earlier this week that I posted, but I'm thinking that this weekend is going to be it!
ReplyDeletefor us October is when we celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada.

Every other October we have a family reunion in the Ozarks in Arkansas. We get great family, wonderful food, and lovely nature at her fall finest! Each year we don't get the reunion, we all miss it. (PS: did I mention the quilt store where hubby purchased me a sewing machine during a reunion several years ago? I get to visit the store each reunion, too!)
ReplyDeleteThe kids love the corn mazes. The past few years I've taken my grandbabies (with their mom) trick or treating at the downtown stores. It's done during the day and is fun and safe. Sure beats all the running around at night that I used to do with my kids and you wouldn't believe the huge bucket of candy they get doing this all the while being safe in the daylight and on sidewalks! Oh, and this year we'll be introducing our oldest granddaughter to "ET!" I hope to make this a yearly tradition along with "Hocus Pocus" that we watch each year!

My daughter and her boyfriend went apple picking last weekend and brought home some cider donuts - they were so good! and the apples were great too (LOL) Our NJ weather is still warm (so humid it feels like July/August!) but I think the criper weather is headed this way for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful photo! I checked my settings and the little box is checked.
