Grilled Cheese with a George Foreman Grill

Saturday night was cold, rainy and then snowed some more. What's the perfect quick dinner...soup and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. Yum!

This is what makes the grilled cheese...Quick! My George Foreman Grill. Do you have one of these or something like it? Well, dust it off, because we're going grillin'

My version of a panini press.

Just place your bread, buttered side down...

top with your favorite cheese. I used shredded cheddar.

Add sliced meat if you'd like. This is ham left over from a big ham dinner we had.

Sprinkle with a little more cheese...just to seal the deal!

Top with more buttered bread. We use "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" the light version! Big deal using light butter, right...with that pile of cheese in there! LOL

Only a few minutes later and it looked like this. It is so fast because it's grilled on both sides at the same time.

Crispy on the outside and ooey and gooey on the inside.

Enjoy,
~Karen~

  1. You can do so much with those. they are such an easy alternative. We used ours as well this weekend. It beats standing at the grill in the snow!!

  2. I bought my husband a George Foreman grill for Christmas because he and my daughter bugged me about it forever...and it's hardly been used. Maybe if I show them your post, they'll get it out of the cupboard...

  6. We just did that last night and used olive oil instead of butter on the outside. Still nice and crisp on the outside.

  8. Hmmmmm....Never thought of using my George Foreman for that. If I had some counter space I could leave it out and then I'd use it! Thanks for bringing it to my attention again.

  10. I still do grilled cheese the old fashioned way, on a griddle, but I make "grown up" grilled cheese sandwiches. I use a good Swiss-type cheese, Jarlsberg or Emmentaler, a very thin slice or two of prosciutto, and put it on light rye bread. Mmmm...

  11. Hi Karen,
I make grilled cheese on my George...leave off the butter as George does a beautiful job without it and it's even yummier! I also make Quesadilas that are perfection(and no butter!!) Put the tortillas shell on the grill and put whatever you want on it...eg cheese, avacado, tomato, peppers, chicken and fold over with the folded edge down (so nothing rolls down) and let George do his magic! Wonderful!!

  13. Glad you posted this Karen. I do this all the time with my GF grill. I love English muffins on it too. I use it more than I use my stove top.
