The ties come in many different sizes, colors and also come in multi packs.
One side of the tie is smooth and the other has little tiny teeth. Once you insert the pointy end into the little opening in the box, the teeth will start to click. It will stay put where ever you stop the tie.
You can cinch it right up nice and tight to the item and it will not come undone until you cut it off.
Here is a quick idea for a different style wreath for your front door. Just take 3 wreaths in graduated sizes (this picture is of the backs of the wreaths). I used 2-3 ties to secure one wreath to the other.
Here is a close up. Once you have it cinched up to the tightness you'd like, you can snip the ends of the ties with wire cutters.
Quick and easy snowman wreath! Just add a scarf, hat and twigs for the arms!
I didn't have a black top hat so I took an old hat of my moms that had a rim on it, added a stretchy ski hat that I stuffed with plastic bags to keep it standing up. Added a ribbon, some berries and a little red cardinal!
I also secured the twigs to the back with the cable ties.
Too cute!

Ha! That is SO CUTE! I am a lover of snowmen - we call my house Snowman-a-palooza around Christmas time because they're everywhere! This would be a great addition to the collection :)
ReplyDeleteI did one similar, but found some WHITE wreaths to make the snowman out of - I'll have to add a cute hat with bird and some twig arms like you did - thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteThat is the most adorable door decoration I've seen in a long time! I'm afraid that my husband will make a copycat version if I show him the picture... he doesn't need any more inspiration. He gets carried away all on his own!
ReplyDeleteIt is too cute! --- Wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteHow stinking cute is that!? :o)
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! My mom (the snowman freak) would love it. I made a similar one a few years ago, one big wreath, two same-size smaller ones at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions... Mickey Mouse! :) Secured with cable ties, of course.
ReplyDeleteHey Karen, that's MY front door! Why don't I see a cute snowman on it? What a clever idea! I love zip ties. They are so versatile, not to mention fun to use! That sound they make is so satisfying. Love the hat and the little bird too!

This is adorable! Love how cute this turned out!
ReplyDeleteI have some nice little tea tins. They are round and have a clear top so you can see what is inside. I just know you would be able to come up with some good ideas to reuse those! I'm kinda stuck. I have thought of the usual - storage for buttons, other small items, small quilt pieces (think Grandmothers Flower Garden hexagons), etc. I know there are other ideas out there, but haven't found anything that really strikes my fancy.

This is unbelievably adorable! Another thing to add to my "to do" list! I came over from Be Different....Act Normal and am your newest follower! www.lifeontheridgeside.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThis is so simple and yet such a big statement for the front door. It's pretty cool, I think that I will have to get some clearance wreaths after Christmas to do this for next year. Time for this year just keeps slipping away.
ReplyDeleteWanted you to know that you provided inspiration. Needed a bag for Santa to put candy canes into for the Christmas Festival tomorrow. I had some Christmas flannel left over from making PJs for my boys. But how do I get the opening of the bag to stay stiff …. I remember Tool Time Tuesday and Karen’s favorite hardware store item … zip tie wraps! I linked several tighter to form a square and then sewed it into a casing at the top of the bag. Viola! Now the bag can hang next to Santa and he won’t have to fight to get his hand in the bag to get a candy canes. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThat hat is killing me. So adorable! Add this to my list (that I swore I wouldn't make) of Christmas crafts for this week.
ReplyDeleteI love how it takes up the entire door! come on over and link up to MMM :_
