Recycled Cupcake Carrier...

Do you know what I've noticed over the many years of making cupcakes? The carriers they sell don't hold 24 cupcakes...and a batch of cupcakes (a box mix that is) is 24.

So what does this case of bottle water have in common with a batch (24) of cupcakes?

Do you see it there on the bottom of the box?

Look at those circles...there are 24 of them!!

Perfect for 24 of these.

or 24 of these little cute cupcake papers from my trip to Ikea.

I know what you're thinking...where are the cupcakes. Well, I took these pictures earlier this week and I wasn't going to bake a batch of cupcakes with only my husband and myself here to eat them. You know I would have to finish them all. We found out yesterday that our daughters were going home for the weekend, but I made 2 apple pies instead. I made cupcakes the last time we saw them.

So cute!

and here are your 24 cupcakes all ready to take to a party or gathering. You can always add colorful tissue paper or pretty doilies on the inside of the box to cover the cardboard and now that I'm looking at these pictures...a cute ribbon around the outside would be nice too.

I had saved several boxes for different things and left one on the floor...I guess this one is Hallie's bed now. I took so many pictures of her when she was in there, I felt like the paparazzi!

She was so sick of me taking pictures, she did this! How rude.

Here's another idea for cardboard cases. Works great to hold all the parts, pieces and pattern to one specific quilt or craft project. If you're like me, you have a lot of these projects going at once.

See you tomorrow,
~Karen~

I hope you are having a great start to your weekend.

  3. That is what happens to most of my boxes, they get taken over by kitties. So, even if I store something in them, it just adds more padding for them;)

  4. That's a really great idea, Karen. I like the thought of decorating the box, too. You are so clever! And yes, any time there is a box in my house - empty or otherwise - there is usually one of my cats in it, whether they actually fit in it or not! :o)

    XOXO,

  10. GREAT IDEA!!!! I do have to say that I went to Costco and for about $16 I was able to get a cupcake holder, plastic, three tiers, that holds 26 cupcakes....great plastic purchase!! It has definitely been used enough already!! But I love your recycle reuse idea!

  13. Cupcake storage during transportation is always an issue for me!

I'm constantly losing Tupperware to friends and family! This is such an amazing idea :)

Kitty is a cutie! My cat and rabbit are the same once they're sick of the attention haha

  14. For a little more effort, you could make this into an insert for a slightly larger box that would keep the cupcakes from tipping over (which always happens to my cupcakes, even in the fancy carrier!). Cut all the way around the edge to make it about half it's original depth, then cut out the circles. Now turn it upside down in a larger box, so that each cupcake can slide down in it's own little cut out. You can make it prettier and wipe-cleanable by laying a sheet of pretty contact paper over the top. Wrap around all the edges, then cut 3 slits in a star shape over each hole to make it easy to wrap the contact paper around the edges of each hole. In fact, I think I'll have to find a similar box and make an insert for my fancy carrier! Make that carriers--I bought two, because, as you point out, they only hold 12, and a batch makes 24 cupcakes!
