Sew Darn Crafty Linky Party...Week 80

Happy Sew darn Crafty Day!! It's the start to a new week and a bunch of new projects on the "to do" list. If you've done any new projects that you'd like to share, well, this is the place to be!

It doesn't even have to be a project. It could be your vacation pictures you'd like to show us or a great recipe you've just tried...anything at all!!

****************************************

If you're NEW to Sew Darn Crafty, then grab a cup of something tasty, sit back and join in on the fun (starts Sunday and lasts all week long here at Sew Many Ways).

If you want to add the button to your blog's side bar or your list of parties that you're in each week...Click HERE for a tutorial for adding a button

WHAT IS A LINKING PARTY...

I subscribe to a linking service, which provides the ability to link thumbnail pictures on my blog. The picture is a link that other bloggers provide to share their projects.

Two things can happen at a linking party...looking and/or linking
  • you can be greatly inspired by wonderful projects, ideas or vacation pictures (looking) and/or
  • you can share what you've been up to (linking)
If you want to be inspired by all the great ideas...just click on a picture and it will take you to that post from a wonderful blogger who was willing to share her thoughts and ideas.

HOW AND WHAT TO LINK TO THE PARTY...

Sew Darn Crafty is all about YOU!! Show off your projects, share a tutorial, show us your vacation pictures, share a family favorite recipe...share anything. Not only does linking inspire us all, it also brings lots of new people to your blog for a visit. Click here for past parties and lots of inspiration

Easy steps to join in on the fun...

  • link up to the specific project post, not your whole blog. Makes it easier to link right to that post and not  search through all your entire blog. To find the http address to a specific post, just click on the Title of your post. Copy and paste the address that's at the top of your computer into the linky steps.
  • link as many projects as you'd like...old or new
  • anything goes...cooking, sewing, knitting, crafts, organizing, remodeling projects, vacations, parties etc...
  • visit other links to share some blogging love! You know we all love comments!
  • linking is open til Saturday night, so plenty of time to join in
  • just click the blue "click here to enter" button which is at the very END...below all the other picture links that everyone has shared. Click and follow the easy steps

Have fun linking up! Don't forget to come back and take a look at all the great projects during the week

Sew, Sew Saturday...Thrift Store Sewing Kit

You know I love going to thrift stores for just about anything that's a "deal".  It is all about the deal, right?

Well, here is my most recent find...steamed pudding molds. Do I use or make steamed pudding? Not yet, but these were just too cute to pass up and they were only $2.00 each

This one is just a mold and I was thinking about using it for my desk to hold office "do dads".

Cute flower shape.

These two are the steamed pudding molds.

I just love the old worn metal look.

They have little clasps to lock them.

Here's the inside.

Tiny at only 6 inches across.

So why am I showing you this steamed pudding mold?

I'm using it for a sewing kit...holds my hexies for grandmother's flower garden, my new sewing kit from Susan, thread, glasses etc.

Lock it up and you can take it any where!!

Great for taking it room to room in your house or it's perfect for the car. I'm not sure about taking it to doctor's office to sew in the waiting room...might look funny carrying a steamed pudding pan around!! Lol

Click HERE for another post I did in the past about different sewing kits.

Remember to always look at something twice. It may have a different use you hadn't thought of before!

Happy Sewing,
~Karen~

Find a Friend Friday Linking Party...

Welcome to another addition of Find a Friend Friday...the place to share your blog for all to see, make new friends and browse through a ton of great blogs.

If you are new to Find a Friend Friday (FaFF), you are in for a treat! It's a simple linking party to add a link to your blog so friends, old and new, can stop by and visit.

It's great to share your blog with everyone, but it's also fun just to look around. Even if you don't have a blog, you can find a wealth of great people willing to share their talents. and another great blog to follow.

This is an easy one to participate in...you are just linking to your own blog. No projects to sew, no furniture to paint, no cookies to bake or pictures to take. You are just sharing your blog and then friends will stop by for a looksy.
  • click on the blue "click here to enter" link at the end...after the last blog that has been linked
  • copy and paste or just type in your blog address...example: http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com
  • enter title of link...your blog name or phrase to grab attention
  • add a photo of you, your profile picture or your blog button or whatever you think will grab some one's attention...(I'm thinking a picture of a big piece of chocolate cake, but that's just me LOL)
That's it...super easy. Have fun checking in on all the new blogs that are linking up each day!

Take care,
~Karen~

Hiya! WOW!!! I've found a new store. I bookmarked it, created an account, and signed up for the newsletter. LOVE IT!!! I love the fabric selections, but the sales areas always catch my eye, and the patterns, oh my! My wish list would include some of the Christmas fabrics, especially the penguin patterns, and the snack packs, too bad they're out of them right now.
Thank you, Lisa and Karen, for the giveaway, it's awesome!!!
Blessed be, hugs!!!

Thoughts on Thursday...

School days...then end of summer is near and it's time to go back to school.

My 2 daughters are going back to college and my husband is a teacher, so it's back to school for him too.

One memory for me of going back to school is clothes shopping. It was just the best feeling. You wanted to wear those clothes as soon as your mom bought them for you.

I can clearly remember one outfit in the mid 1970's...a pair of corduroy farmer jeans or overalls. Oh my gosh, I am laughing as I am typing this. What in the name was I thinking.

I found this image on google of a vintage pair...mine were brown too!

What outfit do you remember from your "going back to school days"...

Happy Thursday,
~Karen~

Tool Time Tuesday...Recycled Soda Bottle Storage

Happy Tuesday everyone!! Today's Tool Time is recycling and storage all in one! We all need a little extra storage space and we all have items we recycle, so why not combine the two.

A while back, I did a similar storage post with french drain pipes. Click HERE to read that post.

Here is what we are using for today's project. A 2 liter bottle of soda.

If you do not drink soda, maybe a similar bottle size or ask friends and family to save bottles for you.

Peel off the label.

Measure the depth of the space where you will be storing the bottles.

Cuts easily with scissors

This project is a twofer...the bottle for storage and

the cap for a funnel!!

My husband took the whole stack of funnel tops to the garage for all his automotive needs. Funnel for the lawn mower, tools, cars etc. Great to funnel oil, gas and other things out in the garage. Lol

Now stack the soda bottles on the shelf or space you have. You can just have them in a single row or as many as your space can handle.

It helps to have a confined space like a shelf, where there are supports on both sides to keep the bottles contained.

Soda bottles are a little more flimsy than the french drain project, so be careful of heavy items. The picture above is stacked with spray paint cans and it was fine.

This would be great for...

  • yarn
  • quilt fabric scraps
  • small yardage pieces of a fabric
  • magazines
  • paper
  • pens
  • pencils
  • markers
  • craft supplies
  • canned goods in the kitchen
  • in the refrigerator for condiments
  • in a closet for gloves, mittens etc
  • etc, etc, etc

You can do anything with this project. You know my motto...always think outside the box or bottle in this case!!

Have a great Tuesday,
~Karen~
