Pinterest Recipe...The Reason I May Not Wear a Bathing Suit This Summer

My daughter Kelsie is a choco-holic. She needed a little "something" the other night, so I told her I saw a recipe on Pinterest and I pinned it against my better judgement! Lol

It's the triple threat of sweets, the tri-fecta of chocolate and the hat trick of yumminess...

This recipe is easy if you have these things on hand. Great for a last minute treat if you're taking it to a summer party!

Prepared cookie dough, package of Oreos and a box of brownie mix with the ingredients to mix it.

The recipe says to layer the cookie dough on the bottom of 13x9 inch pan, spread with whole Oreos and the top with brownie mixture. We chose to do it in cupcake pans to have them in a reasonable serving size...rather than cutting and cutting pieces out of the pan.

Seems like when you cut little pieces out of the pan over a long span of time, it's like you're not eating anything "bad" for you!! I know we all do this too!

Cookie dough on the bottom and brownie on the top...

Then that little sneaky Oreo stuck in the middle!

Ridiculously good and very rich, so you really can't eat a lot.

I think this recipe is why they invented beach cover-ups!

Happy Sew Darn Crafty!! I just love Sundays and all the days that people link on SDC. There are just so many talented people out there and the best part is...they want to share it with us!!

Don't forget that July has theme weeks. If you have any special posts that are coming up on your blog, here are the topics for each week in July...

  • week of July 1st - July 7th...ANYTHING RED, WHITE OR BLUE
  • week of July 8th - July 14th...SUMMER ACTIVITIES, GAMES OR PARTY IDEAS
  • week of July 15th - July 21st...SUMMERTIME RECIPES FOR COOKOUTS OR PARTIES
  • week of July 22n - July 28th...SUMMERTIME CRAFTS
So get your posts ready. You can even go back into your achieves and use an older post to fit the theme.

As for now...let's see what you've been up to this week

****************************************

If you're NEW to Sew Darn Crafty, then grab a cup of something tasty, sit back and join in on the fun (starts Sunday and lasts all week long here at Sew Many Ways).

If you want to add the button to your blog's side bar or your list of parties that you're in each week...Click HERE for a tutorial for adding a button

WHAT IS A LINKING PARTY...

I subscribe to a linking service, which provides the ability to link thumbnail pictures on my blog. The picture is a link that other bloggers provide to share their projects.

Two things can happen at a linking party...looking and/or linking
  • you can be greatly inspired by wonderful projects, ideas or vacation pictures (looking) and/or
  • you can share what you've been up to (linking)
If you want to be inspired by all the great ideas...just click on a picture and it will take you to that post from a wonderful blogger who was willing to share her thoughts and ideas.

HOW AND WHAT TO LINK TO THE PARTY...

Sew Darn Crafty is all about YOU!! Show off your projects, share a tutorial, show us your vacation pictures, share a family favorite recipe...share anything. Not only does linking inspire us all, it also brings lots of new people to your blog for a visit. Click here for past parties and lots of inspiration

Easy steps to join in on the fun...

  • link up to the specific project post, not your whole blog. Makes it easier to link right to that post and not  search through all your entire blog. To find the http address to a specific post, just click on the Title of your post. Copy and paste the address that's at the top of your computer into the linky steps.
  • link as many projects as you'd like...old or new
  • anything goes...cooking, sewing, knitting, crafts, organizing, remodeling projects, vacations, parties etc...
  • visit other links to share some blogging love! You know we all love comments!
  • linking is open til Saturday night, so plenty of time to join in
  • just click the blue "click here to enter" button below and follow the easy steps

Have fun linking up! Don't forget to come back and take a look at all the great projects during the week

Sew, Sew Saturday...3 Rugs to 1

If you're new to Sew Many Ways, I make it a point to make an appointment with my self to have some time for sewing. The weekdays are so crazy with work and what not, Saturdays seem to do the trick for me. They could be big project or little ones like today's post, but sewing is sewing. Maybe you can join me this Sew Sew Saturday!!

A few years ago, I purchased 3 small rugs at a tent sale. It's the type of sale where you fill a bag for one price. These 3 rugs were some of things I put in that bag.

At that time, I needed a small runner, so I decided to sew 2 of the rugs together. Worked great for the spot I needed at that time. Now I need a longer one, so I sewed on the third one and thought I would share the idea with you.

Just connect the 2 rugs with a thick heavy duty thread and big needle.

I sewed big whip stitches...ignore the dog hair. We have a yellow lab and I swear I can vacuum and the hair weaves itself into the fabric.

I thought of another idea to connect the two rugs or to secure your stitches...the ever popular Duct Tape.

The spot where the rug is doesn't get much traffic...it's just in a little hallway going into our master bath. Maybe the Duct Tape will hold...I'll let you know.

The stitches have been there for years though, so that I can attest to!

Here are the 3 rugs attached and in the narrow hall going into the master bath and the other fur ball we have...Hallie

Great idea to "make" a rug that will suit your needs. Buy 2 or 3 cheap rugs in the color you need and make the right size for your area.

Look for rugs on sale too...you know we all love a bargain!!

I hope you have a Sew, Sew Saturday,

Find a Friend Friday...

Fridays seem to be popular around here! I can tell by my stats and the number of hits each Find a Friend post has. Hope you are all finding new friends out there in blog land.

Sew Many Ways has lots of new followers each week too, so browsing through all the new and wonderful blogs is going to be fun!

If you are new to Find a Friend Friday (FaFF), you are in for a treat! It's a simple linking party to add a link to your blog so friends, old and new, can stop by and visit.

It's great to share your blog with everyone, but it's also fun just to look around. Even if you don't have a blog, you can find a wealth of great people willing to share their talents. and another great blog to follow.

This is an easy one to participate in...you are just linking to your own blog. No projects to sew, no furniture to paint, no cookies to bake or pictures to take. You are just sharing your blog and then friends will stop by for a looksy.
  • click on the blue "click here to enter" link in THIS section
  • copy and paste or just type in your blog address...example: http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com
  • enter title of link...your blog name or phrase to grab attention
  • add a photo of you, your profile picture or your blog button or whatever you think will grab some one's attention...(I'm thinking a picture of a big piece of chocolate cake, but that's just me LOL)
That's it...super easy. Have fun checking in on all the new blogs that are linking up each day!

Take care,
~Karen~

Thoughts on Thursday...

Don't you just love singing along with the radio all loud and proud...until someone tells you you're singing the wrong words!!

Sometimes I just can't believe those are the actual lyrics, when my words to the song sound so much better. LOL!!!

I always look up the lyrics just to make sure.

Do you sing to the wrong lyrics too???  I just think we're being creative...

I found this online somewhere...too funny!

Happy Thursday,
~Karen~

Book Review and a Give Away...A Year of Making Life Beautiful

Hello to all my wonderful friends. Today, I want to share with you a very special book I had the pleasure of reviewing for Melissa Stramel. Melissa, from Lilac Lane, contacted me a while ago and asked if I would be part of a book tour for her new book...A Year of Making Life Beautiful. Absolutely!!

When the book arrived I was over joyed with how beautiful it was. As I read further, the word "beautiful" is the theme for everything Melissa does...from sewing, quilting, crafting, cooking to gardening.

As it says on the cover, Melissa has 45 projects to bake, grow, craft and sew throughout the year...and does she ever. Just look at the table of contents. Amazing!!

The book, which is available in soft and hard cover, is just chock full of ideas. It is set up by the months of the calendar. Each month has beautiful pictures of projects, fabulous recipes and gardening tips. Melissa not only shares her creations, she also share her wonderful family. I just love the personal touch her family adds to the book.

Here is just one of many recipes she shares...Barley Flax Wheat Bread. I can just smell it coming out of the oven all warm and delicious. There are also recipes for ice cream, salsa, homemade caramels and jam (yummy and perfect for that warm bread)

Here are just a few of the projects she shares in the book...Hexagon Christmas stocking. You know I love my hexies!!

May Baskets. Perfect little treat for friends and neighbors!

and the Quilts. We can't forget the quilts...each one better than the next!!

This Cathedral Quilt Pillow is at the top of my "To Do" list. I've always wanted to make a Cathedral quilt like the one my grandmother made years and years ago, but a large quilt always seems so daunting. This pillow is just what I need. Small and Do-able!!

Ok...I've shared enough. You have to see how beautiful it is for yourself. There are 2 ways to see Melissa's book...enter my give away or visit Melissa's blog for details to own a book for yourself!.

****To enter the give away for a copy of your own book, just leave a comment on THIS post. Let's make it fun by commenting about your favorite month of the year to honor the theme of Melissa's book!! I will use Random Number Generator to pick a winner on June 20th!!****

Good luck everyone and thank you Melissa for sharing your talents with us.
~Karen~
