Vinyl Covered Sewing or Craft Table...and So Much More!!

I take one trip to Walmart for groceries and I'm tearing my sewing room apart. The Walmart fabric section has great utility fabrics...burlap, decorator weight, vinyl, canvas etc.  I always look when I'm there. Well, I found my favorite fabric pattern in vinyl sold off the roll. I've bought this vinyl fabric before in pre-cut packages and covered other things, but when it's sold by the yard, at any length I need and for $2.96 a yard, the possibilities are endless!! I just wanted to share that they sell it by the yard now!!

Here's the before of the table...

How To Make a Marshmallow Wreath...

I've seen marshmallow wreaths in magazines and on Pinterest, so I thought I would give it a try for myself. I took pictures as I was making it and tried to get a post out before Christmas, but never had the chance with so many things going on. This week will be my "better late than never" posts.

I want to share how I put it together, because the wreath has a wintry feel and you can still keep it up for the month of January. I also used it for a decoration at a Hot Chocolate Bar I had for a party and it was the perfect addition. You can also bookmark it or pin it and you can make one for yourself next year for Christmas!

Wrapped Candy Cane Ornaments...

Here's another easy DIY ornament idea to add a little fun to your Christmas tree….candy canes wrapped with yarn or twine! I had a box of candy canes that I put on the tree last year and stored them away with the decorations. When I opened the box, they didn't look so good. I needed more ornaments for the tree I'm doing with the red, gray and natural colors, so I thought…why not use the yarn I had from the other projects and cover the candy canes?

Here's how they turned out!!

No Sew Burlap Silverware Place Setting Holder…

Hi everyone! The holidays are upon us and I've been getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most all of our family functions have a large number of people, so I always serve the food buffet style. The table leading up to the food has a stack of plates and a basket of place setting/silverware holders. I try to do something with the silverware that's easy, so each guest can just grab and go…they'll have a napkin and the utensils all in one.

Here is my latest project…it's shown here on a plate, but mine are usually in a basket filled to the brim. At the time I was taking the pictures, I hadn't finished all the holders.. so I'll update this post when my holders are filled and ready to go!

This past weekend, I shared a tutorial to make a quick sew pillow from a kitchen towel. You can click HERE to see that post and the instructions. In that post, I said I would share another idea for making a wall hanging from the other kitchen towels that I purchased.

Here it is and it is so simple…little or no sewing at all.

Easy Handmade Clothespin Snowflake Ornaments...

I'm still on the Christmas crafting craze and making more ornaments. Maybe I'm being nostalgic and missing my daughters, but keeping busy keeps my mind busy! Remember last week's post about a red and gray themed tree and handmade ornaments? You can click HERE if you missed it. I want the tree to have a Scandinavian feel, but we'll see how far I get! Lol.

This is my latest craft to add a natural wood element to the tree…

Clothespin Snowflake!!

For the tree, I'm using gray felt, red burlap, yarns, natural wood and berries. I just love the textures.

Here are some of the things I already made…the yarn balls will be made into a garland, but I still need to buy wooden beads to separate the yarn balls. The others are felt ornaments and a letter to Santa. Click HERE for those.

They are so easy to make…just clothespins, hot glue and only takes 10-15 minutes to make.

Spray Painting Christmas Ornaments…Old to New

I know it's only the beginning of November, but I have been working on Christmas for the past few weeks. I have learned over the years that I need to do things early and not wait to the last minute. I decorate 12 trees for every room in the house and it's a labor of love.

I love using all my decorations over and over in different ways each year. If you use something in a new way or in a different room, it seems like you have a whole new look. I also like creating a new themed tree by using things I already have, but buy a few new things to add to it and make it spectacular!!

I've always wanted to have a red and aqua colored tree. I have a ton of different red ornaments, but no aqua, so here's what I've come up with! I already had that fabric too, so maybe a tree skirt will be in the making.

Handmade Christmas Ornaments...

It's November 1st and even though I think about Christmas all year long, from now on, I am in full holiday mode. My clip boards are out and the lists have started. I did a post about organizing for the Thanksgiving and Christmas last year, so if you missed that you can click HERE.

One of my clips boards is just about the 12 Christmas trees I put up in each room...what tree goes where and what the theme will be on each. I have been decorating multiple Christmas trees for most of my 27 married years, so I reuse old things I have in different ways. I also buy things at the end of the year or at clearance sales and that always inspires a new tree theme.

This year I was inspire by this basket I bought on sale at Michael's Craft store. I just love the red sweater fabric and the Scandinavian look. I already had the gray felt and red burlap, so a new tree is born.

Here are some of the things I made already for ornaments on the tree...

Card Party Casino Night Ideas…Glass Name Tag

Hi…I'm back again with another card party idea that I'm using for my dad's 90th birthday party. If you missed the first post for the playing card garland, you can click HERE.

Today's project is for a drinking glass name tag. Wine glasses or frozen drink glasses have stems on them which is the perfect spot to slip on a name tag. This helps your guests keep track of their own glass.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Bouquet...

Our daughter Kelsie had one of her last dance performances as a senior in college last night and we drove up  to see her. Both our daughters have danced since they were 3 years old and we've always bought them flowers after a performance.

This time I wanted to do something a little different. Kelsie loves her chocolate and Oreos are high up on the list of favorite cookies, so I made her a chocolate covered Oreo Bouquet.

Little Touches of Valentine's Day…Refrigerator Magnets

Sometimes when different holidays roll around, we just want a little touch of the holiday decor in our homes. This is true for me with Valentine's Day. A bit of red or a heart here and there is fine for me.

The best place I have found to add that touch is…the refrigerator! We open the refrigerator every day and the project I'm sharing today serves a purpose too.

Homemade Gifts…Soap, Lotion and Lip Balm

This past Christmas, my daughter Courtney wanted to make homemade gifts for family and friends. She searched for ideas and came up with homemade soaps, lotion and lip balm. She started from scratch buying all the supplies needed, mostly online, but some at craft stores. She had an assembly line for each item and before she knew it, she had a ton of little gift bags of homemade goodies.

I didn't have time over the holidays to put this post together, but I thought it would be a great idea to post it now, because the red theme for the wrappings would be perfect for Valentine's Day gifts!!

homemade lotion, soap, lip balm

Here are the things she made…

  • oatmeal soap and some had crushed candy canes for the Christmas theme
  • lip balm in the container and a tube. You can add any flavor and it's great!
  • and the best hand/body lotion ever! I love this stuff.
